General Introduction

The Lauer PCS095 (version PG 095.507.A, reference 201295) is a graphic operator panel that combines a high‑quality display with flexible communication options. Originally manufactured for Branson ultrasonic welding equipment (hence the “Branson Label” marking), this panel is fully compatible with the standard LAUER PCS095 series and can be used as a general‑purpose HMI for various industrial machines requiring a mid‑size operator interface.

Display and Graphical Capabilities

The unit features a 5.7‑inch STN graphic LCD with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels and a white LED backlight. The display supports both text (including multiple fonts) and bitmap graphics, allowing the creation of custom screens with meters, sliders, and trend charts. The contrast is software‑controlled. The screen is protected by a hard‑coated transparent overlay that is resistant to scratches and mild chemicals.

Keypad and User Input

It is equipped with a 24‑key membrane keypad, including 10 numeric keys (0‑9), a decimal point, plus/minus signs, and 12 function/programmable keys (F1‑F12). All keys are backlit and provide audible feedback. The keypad layout is optimized for frequent data entry and navigation through multi‑level menu structures.

An Ethernet version is available (PCS095‑E), but this model uses serial communication only. The software can also upload the current project from the panel for backup or editing.

Installation and Commissioning

Mount the panel in the control cabinet using the provided screws – ensure a watertight seal with the gasket. Connect the 24 V power supply to the two‑pin terminal. For RS‑232, use a shielded cable with a 9‑pin connector (pin 2: RX, pin 3: TX, pin 5: GND). For RS‑485, use twisted‑pair wires to the A/B terminals on the optional adapter. After power‑up, the panel will display the factory default screen. To download the application, connect the programming cable, run the PCS‑Config software, and select “Download” – the panel will automatically enter programming mode. After download, restart the panel to run the new application.

Diagnostics and Maintenance

The panel includes a diagnostic menu accessible by holding F1+F2 during boot‑up. This menu shows the firmware version, memory usage, and communication statistics. The internal battery (CR2032) for the alarm log and RTC should be replaced every 5 years – accessible through a small compartment on the rear. Regular cleaning of the front overlay is recommended. Compatibility and Variants

The PCS095 is compatible with all standard LAUER controllers and with third‑party PLCs via Modbus.
