Jingjiang City, Jiangsu Province is the largest private shipbuilding base and national ship export base in China. At present, Jingjiang has basically formed a complete industrial chain of manufacturing, repair, demolition and supporting.
Let's start with two sets of data --
In 2021, the completed shipbuilding capacity of Jingjiang accounted for 10.24% of the global total and 21.6% of the national total. The number of new orders accounted for 14.7% of the global total and 27.3% of the national total; Hand-held orders accounted for 10.78% of the global total and 22.7% of the national total.
From January to September this year, the three major indicators of Jingjiang shipbuilding continued to lead the country, the city completed 67 ships with a total of 5.174 million deadweight tons, received 81 new orders with a total of 7.405 million deadweight tons, and held 243 orders with a total of 24.231 million deadweight tons. Among the industrial enterprises in the city, there are 31 ships and supporting enterprises, with a cumulative output value of 17.601 billion yuan from January to August.
Break through the technical bottleneck and win the right to speak in the international market
Advanced technology is the first productive force, is Jingjiang shipbuilding from scratch, from weak to strong, development, leading the country's important "code". LNG dual-fuel ships and very large container ships, which represent the world's most cutting-edge shipbuilding technology, are now fully "landing flowers" in Jingjiang shipbuilding industry.
In the "triangular relationship" of international ships between China, South Korea and Japan, Jingjiang shipbuilding industry avoids the common "collision ship" competition mode of price competition and mutual exploitation, and seeks unique advantages in dislocation development, and eventually forms large-scale industrial clusters.
When the reporter interviewed the new era shipbuilding company, the entire pier showed a busy scene of heat. "This is a 500,000-ton dock with four 210,000 ton LNG dual-fuel bulk carriers being built at the same time. At Pier 3 ahead, there are five 210,000 tons of LNG dual-fuel bulk carriers being outfitted." Liu Mingfeng, project manager of the company, said that the company's three large shipyards and three outfitting docks are currently operating at full capacity, and production orders have been scheduled to 2026.
In recent years, with the continuous promotion of global shipping greenhouse gas emission reduction strategy, the new shipbuilding market has rapidly turned to green ships, and LNG-powered ships have become the most popular ships in the international shipping market.
LNG refers to liquefied natural gas. Compared with ordinary fuel tankers, LNG powered ships can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 20% and save energy consumption by 8% under the same working condition. "Whoever has LNG power technology will have a say in the international shipping industry." Sun Quan, director of the development office of the New Era Ship Design and Research Institute, said that LNG fuel needs to be stored at a low temperature of -163 ° C, and the difficulty of ship construction has increased exponentially. After successively overcoming the key difficulties in the research and development of ship type linear design, subdivision arrangement, energy conservation and emission reduction, on February 15 this year, the first 110,000 tons of new LNG dual-fuel power tanker developed by the company and designed by the company with independent intellectual property rights was successfully delivered to the Singapore ship owner.
New Yangtze Shipbuilding focuses on the construction of ultra-large container ships, and takes green, environmentally friendly and low-carbon clean energy power ships and transport ships as the direction of product upgrading, implementing key core technology research, industrial base reconstruction, industrial chain optimization and upgrading.
In 2021, New Yangzi Shipbuilding and Hong Kong Tiger Gas jointly developed the world's largest LNG tank transport dual-fuel deck cargo ship. With its technological advantages, New Yangzi successfully obtained the first batch of orders for 40,000 cubic meters of liquefied petroleum gas vessels and 7,000 TEU container ships for LNG dual fuel.
On October 12, the 15,000TEU container ship "New Yangzi 412" was delivered and started its maiden voyage. Ding Chao, director of the construction of the company, introduced that this is the largest ship built in the new Yangtze River so far, and also the largest container ship navigable in the Yangtze River this year, as the latest generation of large container ships suitable for global routes, with low fuel consumption, less emissions, large loading and other characteristics, ship loading capacity, operation speed, safety and other indicators have reached the world advanced level.
New Era shipbuilding began to take orders for 10,000-ton ships in 1996, and delivered the first 10,000-ton ship in 1998. Today, Jingjiang Shipbuilding industry has transformed from the three traditional main ship types of traditional bulk carriers, oil tankers and container ships to high value-added LNG-powered and dual-fuel powered ships, and has taken a leading position in the domestic market of large dual-fuel powered ships. To "high-end, intelligent, green" transformation, more and more giant ships from Jingjiang dock to the depths of the ocean.
