In 2020, in the context of the epidemic, the chemical fiber industry has fallen into a dilemma such as weak domestic demand and blocked exports, but there are no shortage of highlights in the operation of the industry. First, although affected by factors such as weak downstream consumer demand, the chemical fiber industry is relatively stable, and its rigid demand characteristics are still obvious. In the main product categories of the textile industry, only nonwovens and chemical fibers have achieved positive output growth. Second, the operating benefits of chemical fiber products related to epidemic prevention materials are relatively good, such as spandex, polyester staple fiber, bottle chips and other products, and even out of stock in a certain period of time. Third, the performance of leading enterprises implementing the "refining and chemical integration" development model is relatively bright, and the revenue and profit have increased significantly, which is due to its obvious industrial chain supporting advantages and the efficiency and cost advantages of private enterprises. For example, Rongsheng Petrochemical, Hengli Petrochemical, Hengyi petrochemical, in the process of coping with the current round of severe market situation, has shown a good competitive advantage and anti-risk ability. Fourth, when the macroeconomic and textile industry economic operation have experienced major tests, China's carbon fiber industry has bucked the trend, the annual output increased to about 15,000 tons, the market share further improved, handed over an excellent report card, played an important role in social and economic recovery, and made important contributions to the fight against the epidemic.

In the process of working together to fight against the epidemic, the chemical fiber industry has "people, money and money, and strong contributions", and has effectively assumed their respective main responsibilities, demonstrating the responsibility of enterprises in the chemical fiber industry. At the same time, the industry has still made considerable achievements in scientific and technological innovation, green development, intelligent manufacturing, refining and chemical integration, digital economy, and industry-finance cooperation, which is consistent with the overall development characteristics during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, and has a new development model spawned under the new situation and new business forms. In the end of the "13th Five-Year Plan" year, the industry has further consolidated its position in the global chemical fiber industry and China's textile industry system.

Those who observe the situation are wise and those who follow the trend are wise. The research and formulation of the "Fourteenth Five-Year Development Guidelines for Chemical Fiber Industry" is progressing in an orderly manner. 2021 is the first year of the "14th Five-Year Plan", China's chemical fiber industry will start a new round of structural optimization and industrial upgrading, during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the industry should grasp the following three key points of development on the basis of the "13th Five-Year Plan".

First, we will continue to optimize, transform and upgrade the industrial structure. We should realize that the chemical fiber industry has passed the era of rapid growth of more than ten percentage points for many years, although the impact of the epidemic can not be determined when the past, but it can be predicted that during the "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan" period, the average annual growth rate of China's chemical fiber industry will be synchronized with the world level, which is a natural growth driven by demand. When the speed slows down, the industry as a whole pursues higher quality development.

Second, we must strive to comply with the tide of "green development" and continue to promote the green and sustainable development of the industry. At present, countries around the world are highly concerned about the problem of microplastic pollution, although the epidemic has temporarily reduced the attention of foreign countries to this problem, but it is expected that the problem will continue to ferret in the future. At the same time, countries are generally concerned about the recycling of waste textiles. A number of internationally renowned brands have also formulated a timetable for replacing native polyester with recycled polyester and accelerated implementation. Under this general trend, during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, if China's chemical fiber industry wants to break through the development bottleneck, it is necessary to continue to practice green and sustainable development and more actively assume social responsibilities. Specifically, we should implement "two legs" walking: on the one hand, we should increase the development of recycling chemical fibers, and constantly improve the recycling and reuse rate of waste textiles in our country; On the other hand, we should increase the development of biodegradable chemical fiber products.

The third is to continue to increase machine replacement efforts, and constantly improve the overall level of intelligent manufacturing in the industry. With the changes in China's social demographic structure, as well as the changes in the direction of career choice of the young generation, during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, while labor costs will continue to rise rigidly, the problem of employment difficulties will be more prominent. In response, the chemical fiber industry should further improve the level of intelligent manufacturing. Through the implementation of intelligent manufacturing, it is necessary to gradually open up the data of upstream suppliers, enterprises themselves and downstream customers in the whole industrial chain, realize the sharing of data flows, and make customers' stickiness continue to increase, so as to take the lead in the market of "Internet of everything".
