Overview of main application areas and corresponding models

The VISA series vacuum arc extinguishing chamber is widely used in various types of switchgear in medium and low voltage distribution systems, mainly including the following categories:

4.1 Circuit Breaker (VCB)

Used for the most stringent circuit protection scenarios, quickly disconnect overload and short-circuit currents. VISA Series-8 covers voltage levels from 12kV to 17.5kV, with a breaking capacity ranging from 25kA to 50kA; Series-9 covers voltage levels from 24kV to 40.5kV, with a breaking capacity ranging from 16kA to 40kA. Typical models include WL-41153 (17.5kV/31.5kA/1250A), WL-41456 (40.5kV/31.5kA/2500A), etc.

4.2 Recloser

Used for automatic opening and closing of distribution lines to cope with transient faults. Typical models such as WL-39352 (15.5kV/800A/16kA) and WL-42223 (27kV/1200A/16kA) have excellent automatic reclosing electrical life (E2 level).

4.3 Load switch (LBS)

Used for connecting and disconnecting normal load currents, with limited short-circuit closing capability. Typical models such as WL-41092 (24kV/630A/20kA) and WL-41093 (36kV/630A/16kA) meet the IEC 60265-1 and 62271-103 standards.

4.4 Contactor

Used for frequent operation of loads such as electric motors and capacitor banks. WL-41909 (12kV/400A/4kA) is designed specifically for high operating frequency applications of this type.

4.5 Railway Circuit Breaker

Used for traction power supply system, meeting single-phase 25kV/27.5kV railway standards. WL-41949WE (27.5kV/2500A/31.5kA) has a 250kV BIL insulation level and anti vibration design.


In depth analysis of core technical specifications

5.1 WL-41153:17.5kV/31.5kA/1250A arc extinguishing chamber for circuit breakers

This model is suitable for 12/15.5/17.5kV systems, with a rated current of 1250A and a rated short-circuit breaking current of 31.5kA.

Insulation level: The power frequency withstand voltage is 48kV, and the lightning impulse withstand voltage is 75/85/95kV (depending on the neutral grounding method), meeting the E2 level electrical life requirements.

Contact resistance:<15 μ Ω (@ 3300N contact force), low contact resistance means low power consumption and low temperature rise.

Mechanical characteristics: rated opening distance of 8.5 ± 0.5mm, average opening speed of 1.0-1.4m/s, closing speed of 0.9-1.1m/s, contact bounce time ≤ 2ms. These parameters ensure reliable opening and a long mechanical life (50000 operations).

Life indicator: The allowable wear of the contact is 3mm, and the storage life is 20 years (in original packaging, dry and clean environment).

5.2 WL-41456: Arc extinguishing chamber for 40.5kV/31.5kA/2500A circuit breaker

Suitable for 40.5kV system, high current 2500A, breaking capacity 31.5kA.

Insulation level: With a power frequency withstand voltage of up to 118kV and lightning impulse of 215kV, it meets the internal and external insulation requirements of higher voltage levels.

Mechanical requirements: opening distance 19 ± 1mm, average opening speed 1.6-2.0m/s, closing speed 1.4-1.6m/s, contact bounce ≤ 2ms. The larger opening distance and higher speed are for reliable arc extinguishing at higher voltages.

Additional quality requirements: It is stipulated that the mass of the moving part of the mechanism must be greater than twice the mass of the moving end (mu>2ma), in order to ensure sufficient closing kinetic energy and overcome the contact welding force.

5.3 WL-41092R: Arc extinguishing chamber for 24kV load switch

Compliant with IEC 62271-103 E3 level load switch requirements, rated current 630A, short-time withstand current 20kA/3s.

Special breaking capability: In addition to load current, it also has comprehensive capabilities such as closed-loop breaking, cable charging breaking, single capacitor bank breaking (400A), and ground fault breaking, reflecting the comprehensive performance of load switches.

Mechanical lifespan: 30000 operations, meeting frequent operation requirements.

5.4 WL-41949WE: 27.5kV Railway Special Circuit Breaker Arc Extinguishing Chamber

Single pole design, specifically designed for 25kV electrified railways.

Rated voltage: maximum permanent voltage 27.5kV, instantaneous maximum 29kV.

Insulation level: Power frequency withstand 95kV, lightning impulse 250kV, ensuring insulation reliability in harsh outdoor environments.

High current capability: rated current of 2500A, breaking 31.5kA, meeting the power supply needs of heavy-duty railways.
