2.3 Replacement case: APC SUA1500 upgraded to 9PX1500IRT2U
Original equipment: APC Smart UPS 1500VA, has been discontinued and has reached the end of its lifecycle. The battery terminals are corroded, and the communication card no longer supports the new system.
Upgrade steps:
Measure the original equipment size and installation method: Originally tower type, 9PX supports tower and rack type, and can be converted using the accompanying guide rails and brackets.
Check the load power: The total power of the original connected server and switch is about 900W, and 9PX1500 provides 1500W, which is sufficient.
Keep the original RS232 monitoring cable and insert it into the RS232 port of 9PX. The original power management software can recognize it (Eaton driver needs to be installed).
If remote web monitoring is required, select a Network MS card and insert it into the smart card slot.
Install a new battery and charge it for 48 hours, then perform a battery self-test before putting it into operation.

Key points for installation and electrical connection
3.1 Mechanical Installation
Tower type: Install the attached support legs at the bottom, place them vertically, and leave 15cm of heat dissipation space behind.
Rack mounted: Use the rails provided by Eaton (to be ordered separately or included with some models) to push the UPS or EBM into the 19 inch cabinet and secure it with panel screws. 2U height (86.5mm) is suitable for some models ranging from 1000-3000VA, while 3U (130mm) is suitable for other models ranging from 2200/3000VA.
Multiple EBM installations: stackable or side-by-side, with a total height not exceeding the cabinet space.
3.2 Electrical Wiring
Important safety reminder: Even if the input power is disconnected, the output socket of the UPS internal battery may still be charged. Only qualified maintenance personnel are allowed to open the casing.
Input connection:
9PX1000/1500: Use IEC-C14 power cord to directly plug into the wall, be careful not to reverse the input (but UPS has polarity detection function).
9PX2200/3000: Use IEC-C20 power cord (16A), compatible with corresponding wall socket (such as NEMA 5-20 or IEC 60309).
Output connection:
The main output socket (marked as "Main Output" or icon) connects critical loads (servers, PLCs).
The connection between partition 1 and partition 2 can interrupt the load (monitor, printer, fan).
For high-power models, the main output includes a 16A IEC socket for high-power devices.
Input wire diameter and protection:
Suggested upstream circuit breakers: 10A C type for 1000-1500VA, 16A C type for 2200-3000VA.
Use the included power cord fastener (plastic clip) to prevent accidental unplugging of the plug.
Grounding: UPS must be reliably grounded, and the chassis grounding terminal is located on the rear panel.
3.3 HotSwap MBP module (optional)
HotSwap MBP (Maintenance Bypass Module) is a standard option that allows for the replacement of UPS without power interruption. Wiring method:
The input line is connected to the MBP input socket, and the UPS input is connected to the blue "UPS Input" socket marked as MBP.
Connect the UPS output to the MBP marked red "UPS Output" socket.
Connect the load to the output socket of MBP.
When in use, turn the MBP knob to "Bypass", and the load will be directly powered by the mains; At this time, it is safe to replace the UPS; After completion, turn back to 'Normal'.
Note: For the 1000/1500 model, an additional connecting cable needs to be purchased (not included in the attachment).
Battery management and maintenance
4.1 First Charging and Long Term Storage
Before first use, it must be charged for at least 8 hours (recommended 24 hours). If the "battery charging date" on the carton label has passed and has never been charged, do not use it and contact a service representative.
Long term storage (over 6 months): Connect to mains power and charge for 24 hours every 6 months, otherwise the battery may be permanently damaged.
Storage temperature: 0-35 ℃ with battery, -15-60 ℃ without battery.
4.2 Timing of battery replacement
The LCD displays "battery failure" or "0 months remaining battery life", or the battery self-test fails (triggered by "Control>Battery self-test").
Lead acid batteries typically have a lifespan of 3-5 years, and their lifespan is halved for every 10 ℃ increase above 25 ℃. Suggest regular replacement every 4 years.
Use Eaton original batteries for replacement (can be ordered with a service representative).
4.3 Internal battery replacement steps (no need to power off)
Remove the center cover of the front panel, push the left cover to the right and open it (be careful not to unplug the flat cable).
Remove the two screws from the battery panel and disconnect the battery connector.
Pull out the plastic handle of the battery pack and slowly pull it out with both hands.
Insert a new battery pack (confirm model: 12V 7Ah or 9Ah, quantity 4 or 6).
Reconnect the battery, reinstall the baffle and panel.
Execute 'Control>Reset Battery Life' on the LCD and charge the battery for 48 hours.
