4.4 Deep discharge protection
Suggest enabling the 'Discharge Protection' setting (Settings>Battery Settings>Discharge Protection=Yes), UPS will automatically adjust the battery discharge termination voltage to prevent excessive discharge from causing permanent battery failure. If disabled, the warranty becomes invalid.

Communication and Remote Control
5.1 Overview of Communication Ports
RS232 (DB9): Supports simple signal output (such as low battery voltage, UPS normal) and power on/off commands. Eaton intelligent power software can be used for monitoring.
USB: Plug and play, compatible with most operating systems' built-in UPS services.
Dry contact (relay output): programmable output status (bypass mode, battery mode, etc.), used to connect external alarm lights or PLCs.
Smart card slot: Supports Network MS (SNMP/Web), Modbus MS, and Relay MS cards. Implement remote web monitoring, Modbus RTU/TCP integration, or hard pin extension.
5.2 Remote On/Off (ROO) and Remote Emergency Shutdown (RPO)
ROO (Remote On/Off): Control UPS power on/off through external normally open contacts. If the contact is closed, the UPS will turn on (or remain on), and if it is disconnected, it will turn off. Suitable for centralized control cabinets.
RPO (Remote Power Off): Use normally closed contacts, disconnect contacts in case of emergency, UPS immediately shuts off output (and enters standby mode). The RPO circuit belongs to SELV and must be insulated from hazardous voltages. Even if RPO is not required, the original terminal should be short circuited (otherwise a "remote shutdown" fault will be reported).
Configuration method: Go to the LCD menu "Settings>Communication Settings>Input Signal", and specify the function, delay, and effective level for the ROO and RPO ports respectively.
5.3 Programmable output signals
9PX provides 4 output signals: relay (normally open/normally closed), DB9 pins 1, 7, and 8. It can be assigned as "battery mode", "battery low voltage", "bypass mode", "UPS normal" and other states in the LCD. For example, setting DB9 pin 7 to "UPS normal", when the UPS is in inverter power supply or bypass power supply and there is no fault, pin 7 outputs a high level (optocoupler conduction).
Typical troubleshooting
6.1 Common alarms and solutions
Possible causes and solutions for LCD display/phenomenon
In battery mode, the buzzer beeps every 10 seconds to interrupt the mains power supply. The UPS battery checks whether the input circuit breaker trips and waits for the mains power to be restored. If long-term operation is required, please turn off non critical loads.
The battery is low voltage and beeps every 3 seconds. As the battery is about to run out, save the data immediately and turn off the load. If the early alarm threshold is set too low, you can increase the capacity or remaining time threshold in "Settings>Battery Settings>Low Battery Level".
No battery, continuous buzzing. Check if the internal battery plug is loose when the battery connection is disconnected or the fuse is blown; For 2.2K/3K, check the internal 50A/75A fuse.
Battery malfunction: If the battery self-test fails or the voltage is too low in the ABM cycle, execute "Control>Battery self-test". If it fails, the battery needs to be replaced.
Bypass mode overload, overheating, or manual bypass to reduce load capacity; Check if the fan is running; Confirm that the bypass voltage/frequency is within the range.
Remove part of the load when the output overload exceeds the rated power. If the overload lasts for more than the specified time (such as 102% -130% for 12 seconds), it will switch to bypass or shut down.
Remote shutdown RPO terminal open or unconnected. Check if RPO terminal is short circuited (if RPO function is not used). The RPO input signal function can be disabled in the LCD.
6.2 Overload protection parameters
The overload response of 9PX can be customized through "Settings>Input/Output Settings>Load Mode":
IT load (default): Inverter when overloaded → bypass → inverter (automatic return).
Industrial load: Inverter when overloaded → no output (direct shutdown), suitable for critical processes that do not allow bypass.
Customization: Actions for overload and short circuit can be set separately.
6.3 Buzzer Mute
Press the ESC key on the front panel to temporarily mute the current alarm. If a new alarm is triggered, the buzzer will sound again. You can also set the alarm sound mode to "no alarm" in the "local settings" (not recommended).
Preventive Maintenance Plan
Periodic maintenance content
Check if there are any alarms on the LCD every month; Record the remaining months of battery life; Clean the air inlet filter.
Perform a battery self-test once a quarter (control>battery self-test) and observe that there are no faults within 10 seconds of discharge.
Check all fans (rear panel and side) for operation every six months; Measure the terminal voltage of the battery (which should be within the floating charge voltage range).
Calibrate UPS output voltage annually (requires professional tools); Check if all cable connections are loose; Test RPO/COO functionality.
