Lauer LCA 245 Text View 245.100.1
The Lauer LCA 245 Text View, model 245.100.1 (also referenced as 300688), is a dedicated alphanumeric operator interface designed for straightforward control and status display in industrial environments. Unlike graphical panels, this unit uses a high-contrast character display to show text messages, numeric values, and simple symbols. It is an ideal choice for small machines, conveyor systems, and process stations where a graphical HMI is overkill and cost savings are important.

Functional Features
The LCA 245 Text View can store up to 255 user-defined messages, each with up to 80 characters, along with embedded variables (numeric or string) that can be updated from the PLC. It supports scrolling text, blinking, and inverse video for emphasis. The keypad can be customized to trigger specific functions like start, stop, reset, or parameter adjustment.
Communication is based on a simple ASCII protocol or Modbus RTU, making integration easy with most PLCs. The unit also supports polling mode, where it requests data from the controller. It includes a real-time clock for timestamping events, and it can log up to 100 alarm events with time stamps.
Configuration is performed using Lauer Text Configurator, a PC-based tool that allows creation of message tables and key assignments. The configuration can be downloaded via the serial port.
Installation Guidelines
Mount the unit in a panel cutout with the supplied gasket and clips. Ensure the sealing surface is clean. Connect the power supply with a 0.5 A fuse. For RS485, use a shielded twisted-pair cable with termination resistors. The RS232 connection uses a standard null-modem cable. Set the communication parameters (baud rate, parity, stop bits) via DIP switches on the rear.
To download configuration, connect a PC to the RS232 port using a programming cable.
Operating Conditions
This terminal is designed for indoor use at temperatures from 0 to 50 °C. It can withstand vibration of 0.3 g (10–150 Hz) and shock of 5 g (11 ms). The backlight has a life of 30,000 hours.
Applications
Typical uses include small packaging machines, conveying systems, temperature controllers, batch counters, and simple pump stations. It is also used as a remote display for weighing systems and flow meters.
Compliance and Certifications
CE certified, UL recognized, RoHS compliant. Meets EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-6-3.
Ordering Information
