Lauer LCA041 Text Display

The Lauer LCA041 is a miniature text display designed for the most basic operator interface needs. It features a 2-line by 16-character alphanumeric LCD with a simple membrane keypad consisting of 4 function keys and 2 navigation keys. This unit is intended for applications where only essential status information and a few parameters need to be displayed or adjusted, such as small sensors, simple drives, and standalone controllers.

Functional Features

The LCA041 can display up to 50 predefined messages stored in its memory. It supports variable fields that can be updated via serial communication. The keypad can be used to navigate through menus and edit numeric values. Communication uses a simple ASCII protocol, making it easy to interface with any PLC or microcontroller. The unit also includes a buzzer for alarm indication.

Configuration is performed via a PC-based tool that allows creating message tables and assigning key functions. The configuration is uploaded through the RS232 port.

Installation Guidelines

Mount the unit in a panel cutout with the gasket. Connect the 24 V DC supply with a 0.2 A fuse. For RS232, use a standard 3-wire cable (Tx, Rx, GND). For RS485, use a twisted-pair shielded cable with termination.

Operating Conditions

This terminal operates at 0–50 °C, with low vibration tolerance. It is not designed for high-shock environments.

Applications

Typical uses include temperature controllers, pressure monitors, simple batch counters, and small drive parameter setting. It is also used in laboratory equipment and test fixtures.
