Wuchang plans a national first-class inland river green intelligent ship industrial zone

Yangtze River Daily News (reporter Qin Liuwei correspondent Wan Shuhan) On December 1, Wuchang District held an expert seminar on the construction scheme of inland green intelligent ship industry cluster area, more than 30 experts gathered to discuss the feasibility of building a first-class cluster area in the country.

By the end of 2022, there were 109,500 inland waterway transport vessels in China, and the market size reached trillions according to the calculation of 10% replacement and 10% transformation and upgrading. Accelerating the development of green intelligent ship industry can give full play to the advantages of large water transport volume and low energy consumption, and accelerate the realization of the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality.

Wuchang is close to the Yangtze River, and there are many famous ship design units such as China Ship Research and Design Center, 719th Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Corporation Limited, Wuhan University of Technology (Yujiatou Campus), Wuhan Yangtze River Ship Design Institute Co., LTD., Wuhan Jinding Ship Engineering Design Co., LTD. And Hubei Yangtze River Ship Supply Chain Co., LTD., CCCC Second Shipping Engineering Survey and Design Institute Co., LTD., Wuhan Xinyu Sheng Crew Management Co., LTD. Wuchang District has abundant resources, many professionals, strong innovation ability and strong development atmosphere.

It is understood that according to the planning scheme, the agglomeration area will shape the pattern of "one headquarters base and three function centers" along the Binjiang River from south to north, forming the development effect of industrial clusters. By 2025, the whole industrial chain of green and intelligent inland ships with ship design as the guide, technological innovation as the support and comprehensive application as the business mode will be built, driving the scale of the region's shipbuilding industry to exceed 20 billion yuan.

At the seminar, the representative of Wuhan University of Technology proposed that technology and talent are the focus of industrial development, focusing on standardized ship design, cruise yacht development, intelligent supporting equipment, etc., focusing on team technology breakthroughs, the introduction of relevant policies, the demonstration application of real ships, the transformation and promotion of scientific and technological achievements, and the development of green intelligent ship application scenarios in Wuchang.

The relevant person in charge of the Wuhan Institute of Industrial Innovation and Development proposed to increase the synergy between universities, enterprises and institutions. Wuchuang Institute is exploring the path to realize multi-resource complementarity through the construction of a tangible company, and in the future, it can build innovative entities and industrial entities in various forms of investors, funds and shareholders, making a pioneering example, leading the breakthrough development of advanced standardized ship types and application scenarios.

The relevant person in charge of Wuchang District said that the construction of the inland green intelligent ship industry cluster area and the green intelligent transformation in the field of ship design are practical actions in response to the development of the national "double carbon" strategy.
