However, the complex working conditions on industrial sites impose strict requirements on hardware debugging and maintenance. This article is based on the official user manual of NuPRO-965, combined with the practical experience of frontline engineers, to provide you with a system level debugging, configuration, and troubleshooting guide to ensure that your SHB platform always runs at its best.
Chapter 1: Open box inspection and anti-static operation specifications
As a precision electronic device, NuPRO-965 is extremely sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD). The manual emphasizes at the beginning that:
“The NuPRO-965 SHB must be protected from static discharge and physical shock. Never remove any of the socketed parts except at a static-free workstation. Use the anti-static bag shipped with the product to handle the board. Wear a grounded wrist strap when installing and/or servicing.”
Operation points:
The board must be disassembled and assembled on the anti-static workbench, wearing a grounding wristband, and only touching the edges when taking out the board.
Check packaging contents: In addition to the card body, it should include SATA data cable x 2, SATA power cable x 1, Print+COM board cable, COM board cable, 2-port USB board cable, PS/2 Y-shaped cable (excluding some SKUs), driver CD, and user manual.
Key difference reminder: NuPRO-965 offers two models - NuPRO-965DV (dual Gigabit Ethernet port, no IDE interface) and NuPRO-965LV (single Gigabit Ethernet port, onboard JMicron JMB368 PCIe to IDE controller, supporting one IDE channel). When placing an order, it is necessary to choose according to actual needs. The DV version does not provide an IDE interface due to PCIe channel reuse.
Chapter 2: Core Component Installation - CPU, Heat Sink, and Memory
2.1 Key points for LGA775 CPU installation
NuPRO-965 supports Intel Core ™ 2 Quad/Duo, Pentium Extreme Edition, Pentium D, and Celeron D processors, FSB supports 1066/800/533 MT/s. When installing the CPU, be sure to follow the following steps:
Release the load rod, uncover the load plate, and remove the protective cover.
Align the golden triangle mark of the CPU with the bottom left corner of the Socket 775 base, place it vertically, and do not press hard to prevent the needle from bending. The manual clearly states: "The CPU fits the socket in only one orientation. Do not force it into the socket to avoid damaging it
Close the load plate and fasten the load rod.
Warning: Before installing the CPU, all power sources must be disconnected and avoid touching the socket contacts. In order to boot up the system with a newly installed CPU, standby power must not be applied to the board before installation
2.2 "Hard indicators" for radiator selection and installation
The NuPRO-965 must operate under the condition that the internal ambient temperature of the chassis does not exceed 60 ° C, and must be equipped with an active heat sink specifically designed for LGA775. The official manual recommends three cooling solutions:
1U solution (part number 32-20065-0000): Copper base+copper cut fins, 5500 RPM, 10.48 CFM
2U Plan (Part No. 32-20066-0000): Copper Bottom+Copper Cut Fins, 6800 RPM, 35.3 CFM
3U scheme (part number 32-20058-0000+34-30381-0000): Aluminum extrusion type, 4500 RPM, 57.7 CFM
Key installation precautions:
Captive screws must be used for heat sinks, and push pin heat sinks are strictly prohibited - "They may exercise too much tension on the PCB and cause the board to flex, resulting in damage to the SHB
When tightening screws, gradually tighten the corners to prevent uneven force on the CPU - "Fully tightening a screw at one corner before beginning to tighten the other screws may be due to uneven pressure to be applied to the CPU and damage the component and/or SHB
The fan power cord must be connected to the onboard FN1 (CPU fan) interface, which is 4-pin (GND,+12V, Tachometer, Speed Control) and supports PWM speed regulation and speed monitoring.
Important reminder: After installing the radiator, when taking out the board, you must support the edge with both hands to fully support the weight of the radiator and avoid deformation caused by the board hanging in the air.
2.3 DDR2 Memory Installation and Dual Channel Configuration
NuPRO-965 provides four 240 pin DIMM slots (J1~J4), supporting DDR2 800/667/533 MHz, with a maximum capacity of 8GB. Channel allocation:
