Chapter 1: Electronic Equipment in Control Cabinets - Reliable Energy and Signal Management

The control cabinet is the nerve center of the automation system, and Murrelektronik provides a complete product line from transformers, power supplies, UPS to intelligent distribution, EMC filters, and relays.

1.1 Transformer and rectifier power supply

MTS, MST, MET, MTL and other series of transformers meet global market certification, with isolation levels reaching T 40/B or T 60/B. The input voltage covers single-phase 230/400 V AC and three-phase 208-550 V AC, and the output can provide various combinations such as 24 V AC, 230 V AC or 2 × 24 V AC. Rectified power supplies (such as the MEN series) convert AC power to 24 V DC (SELV), with a maximum ripple of 5% rms, and integrate LED, varistor, and smoothing capacitor. These products are installed using long holes or DIN rails, with a working temperature range of -20 to+60 ° C. Some models have obtained certification from the German Lloyd's Register (GL).

1.2 Switching Power Supply - Emparro ® series

The Emparro series switching power supplies have become the market benchmark with their excellent performance of up to 96% efficiency and 150% power boost lasting for 4 seconds. Compared to conventional power sources, Emparro significantly reduces heat generation, thereby extending the lifespan of adjacent components. This series offers single-phase and three-phase input versions, with an output voltage of 24 V DC (adjustable 22-28 V) and output currents ranging from 5 A to 40 A. It also has short-circuit and overload protection, alarm contacts (such as the Evolution+series), and push in spring terminals. Among them, the three-phase version, such as the MPL series, has a wide input voltage range of 3 × 208-520 V AC and can operate at full load in an environment of -20 to+55 ° C, with an efficiency of over 92%.

1.3 UPS、 Buffer module and redundant module

UPS module Emparro ACCUcontrol: with an external lead-acid battery, it can achieve several hours of power down buffering, suitable for critical processes that require long-term production maintenance.

Buffer module MB Cap: Based on maintenance free supercapacitors, it can buffer for 0.2 seconds at 20 A full load and 4 seconds at 1 A light load, which is sufficient to support the control system to complete data storage and orderly shutdown.

Redundant modules such as MB Redundancy Balance use automatic balancing (50/50) technology to combine two 20 A power supplies into one 40 A output, and have a single channel alarm output. The simpler diode redundancy module MB Diode uses Schottky diodes to achieve 2 × 20 A input and 1 × 40 A output, with a voltage drop of only about 0.5 V.

1.4 Intelligent Power Distribution - MICO Series

In traditional 24V DC systems, due to circuit resistance limitations, the short-circuit current is often insufficient to trigger a regular C-type circuit breaker (requiring 14 times the rated current). Murrelektronik's MICO intelligent overcurrent protection module solves this problem through a patented trip feature. The MICO+series (such as 4.4, 4.6, 4.10) offers 4 channels, and the current threshold of each channel can be set through a concave rotary switch (1-10 A), with a 90% rated current warning function. When a channel is overloaded or short circuited, only that channel is turned off, and the other channels continue to operate, greatly improving system availability. The module also provides remote ON/OFF control, group alarm and early warning output, and supports bridging on both sides to expand input current. The MICO BASIC series is an economical choice for fixed currents (such as 5 × 2A+3 × 6A).

1.5 EMC filter

To meet electromagnetic compatibility standards, Murrelektronik offers single-phase and three-phase EMC filters:

Single phase MEF 1/1 (primary): 85-265 V AC/DC, 20 A, push in terminal.
