Configuration Task Overview
Programmable servo controller (PSC) systems have two types of tasks:
Application tasks and configuration tasks. This chapter mainly describes how to configure the hardware and software to configure the system.
The primary function of the configuration task is to assign addresses in the variable name system to physical objects. This function allows you to construct application tasks using variable names rather than actual physical locations. These variables are called universal variables, which are then made accessible to basic and control blocks by declaring application tasks as variables through COMMON statements. PC/Ladder Logic tasks can be simply referenced by variable names in their sequence. Using variable names instead of addresses simplifies multitasking because application tasks can communicate with each other easily through COMMON variables. Because the physical addresses in the system are defined only in the configuration task, changes to the hardware configuration do not require the task of rewriting the application. In many cases, you can simply edit the configuration task to describe the new physical configuration of the system, while making only minor changes to the application task.
Configuration task structure
The configuration tasks are defined as follows:
1. All variables that can be globally accessed by multiple application tasks There is no need to define system variables in the PSC5000 system.
2. Application tasks that will reside on the control card in the PSC5000
System. Each control card requires a configuration task, regardless of the number of application tasks when public variables are used in the application.
The configuration task itself is not executed or run, but it is compiled. Later, when compiling, the task is loaded onto the control card.
When public variables are used in an application task, the configuration task should be loaded before any application task is loaded. If the configuration task is not loaded first, the programming interface displays an error message terminal. These errors can be cleared by loading the configuration task.
