DESCRIPTION

The new DCS880 DC drive series is built on the all-compatible drive platform that ensures all ABB variable speed drives (VSDs) share common features and tools, and can be operated in the same way. The drive integrates certified Safe Torque Off (STO) safety functionality as standard and is also enabled for compatibility with the Industrial Internet of Things.

DCS880 are also a great solution to non-motor applications like magnets, battery charging, electrolysis and wastewater treatment.

The drive comes with many useful built-in functions that focus on safe operation, easy selection and installation, fast setup and efficient maintenance. Interconnectivity has also been made a priority to enable the drive to interface effectively with the Industrial Internet of Things. In addition, the drives can interface with all major fieldbus protocols.

The DCS880 industrial DC drive range is built on the ABB Compatible Drives platform, which ensures that all ABB drives share common features and tools and can be operated in the same way. the DCS880 is not only suitable for motorised applications, but also for a wide range of non-motorised applications such as magnets, battery charging, electrolysis and wastewater treatment, providing an efficient and reliable solution for these applications. The DCS880 is suitable not only for motor applications but also for non-motor applications such as magnet charging, battery charging, electrolysis and wastewater treatment.

Technical features

Built-in safe torque cancellation (STO) function:

The STO function is built into the product as standard, making it easy to implement the safety function and obtain equipment safety certification without the need to add additional safety electrical components.

With its hardware-only design and dual-channel configuration, the STO function can be used up to SIL 3/PL e (the highest requirement in the Safety Level Specification for Machinery and Equipment).

Wide range of currents and voltages:

Single drive current range: 20A to 5200A.

Voltage range: up to 1600VDC.

Programming environment based on IEC 61131 standard:

Supports user programming and customisation according to actual requirements, improving system flexibility and expandability.

Powerful interconnectivity:
