ABB INNPM12 Network Processor Module
ABB INNPM12 Network Processor Module
Basic functions
The INNPM12 acts as a network processing module and establishes a channel for transferring information between the ring network and the control channel.
It maintains the exception report sending database and directly controls the work of the process control unit interface.
The module is paired with modules such as IMNIS11 or INNIS01 for more efficient data processing and communication.
Hardware features
INNPM12 has three board edge connectors, P1, P2 and P3. Of these, P1 connects to the logic power supply required by the module; P2 connects to the sub-bus for communication with the NIS (Network Interface Module); and P3 provides redundant connections.
The panel has nine LEDs and a stop/reset button to indicate module status and for troubleshooting.
Redundancy and Reliability
The INNPM12 supports a redundancy function whereby when the primary module fails, the standby module automatically takes over to ensure continuous system operation.
The reliability and availability of the system is enhanced by the use of redundant hardware and communication media.
Communication and Networking
The INNPM12 is a key component in the Symphony™ Enterprise Management and Control System and is tightly connected to the Control Network (Cnet).
The Cnet provides the data path between the Harmony Control Unit (HCU), the Human Machine Interface (HSI), and the computer, and the INNPM12 is responsible for transferring and processing data between these components.
The module supports a variety of self-testing functions, including positive message confirmation and cyclic redundancy check (CRC), to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
Application Areas
INNPM12 is widely used in many industries to meet the data processing and monitoring needs in different scenarios. For example:
Power industry: used to monitor and control various power equipment and systems to ensure stable transmission and distribution of power.
Petroleum and chemical industry: Real-time processing of various sensor data, providing accurate control signals, and realising the automation and intelligence of the production process.
Manufacturing industry: for automation control and data acquisition on production lines, optimising the production process and fine management.
Transportation industry: used in traffic signal control, vehicle monitoring and scheduling, etc., to improve the operational efficiency of the transport system.
Construction industry: In the field of intelligent buildings, it is used in building automation systems to achieve centralised control and intelligent management of lighting, air conditioning, security and other systems.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
Maintenance and troubleshooting of INNPM12 usually includes operations such as checking the status of LED indicators, overhauling and processing according to the error code, and resetting the module address.
When carrying out troubleshooting, it is necessary to follow the corresponding operation manuals and safety norms to ensure the safety of personnel and the normal operation of the equipment.
