GE DS3820MAUC Mark IV System Bus Module

GE DS3820MAUC Mark IV System Bus Module

Part Number DS3820MAUC Manufacturer General Electric Country of Manufacture As Per GE Manufacturing Policy Series Mark VI/VIe Function Module Availability In StockDS3820MAUC is a printed circuit board developed by General Electric. It is a part of the Mark IV series. This system is designed to control gas and steam turbines, and it is based on integrated microcomputers that monitor the turbine system 24 hours a day, protecting it from problems like fire, vibration, overspeeding, and flame loss. The startup, speed control, control sequencing, and shutdown can all be automated using the Mark IV.

The DS3820MAUC is a version of the DS3800HRPB that has been modified. There have been several changes made. Installation of a top hat mounting plate with two slots cut onto each short end is one of them. Screws are inserted into factory drilled holes in each top corner of the board and at each bottom corner to secure the mounting plate to the PCB. Vertical spacer pins are also supported in these places, which are used to connect a plexiglass shield.

Another addition is the plexiglass shield. At the center of the board, fifth support is added. The addition of a cable connector bar is the final modification to the board. Eight cables can be connected to this bar via eight circular cable connections. The original board has a board stiffener that runs the length of the board. There are eight toggle switches on the board, as well as a set of spare PTH. One transistor, a six-pin header, and numerous integrated circuits, including oscillation chips, are all found on the board. Ceramic-covered metal film resistors are common. On the board, there is only one thermistor. Capacitors come in a variety of materials.

ABOUT THE DS3820MAUC

The DS3820MAUD is an HMI built upon a PCB that works within the Mark IV series.  The Mark IV designed to manage steam/gas turbine systems.

The DS3820MAUD has the following specifications and components:

It has an interface panel.  This panel connects to the PCB identified as DS3800HMAC.   The panel is identified as DS3820MAUD and has three cutouts.  These cutouts are labeled Cable A OK, Cable B OK, and Watch Dog Timer OK.   It also has lines that point to ports that protrude from the edges of the panel.  These lines are labeled Cable A, with one end of the line labeled JB and the other JC.  The other line is labeled Cable B, with one end of the line labeled JD and the other JE.   There are two boxes at the top of the panel. These are labeled JA/Link Controller Connector and JG/Power Connector.   The middle of the panel states “General Electric. Directo-Matic Plus. Control System Freeway Media Access Module.”

The side of the panel has four ports for connecting cables.  These correspond with JB, JC, JD, and JE mentioned above. Below these ports are six screw connections which hold the panel to the PCB.

The back side of the interface panel connects to the panel via two pins that slide over two vertical nylon spacers connected to the board.

The DS3800HMAC PCB is built with six red LEDs.  These line up with the cutouts in the panel above.  The board has one PCB mating connector (218A4837-P12,) a six-pin header, and six TP test points.  It has ten jumper switches, two transistors, and forty integrated circuits, including crystal oscillators.
