ABB FAZ-C2/2-DC Circuit Breaker

Basic positioning and design concept of the product

FAZ-C2/2-DC belongs to ABB FAZ series miniature circuit breakers, which are designed with the core concept of "miniaturization, high reliability, and precise protection". They are mainly used for short-circuit protection and overload protection of DC distribution circuits, avoiding safety accidents such as equipment damage and fires caused by circuit failures. Among them, "C2" represents that the tripping curve of the circuit breaker is C-type, with a rated current of 2A, suitable for conventional resistive load and some inductive load circuits; '2' indicates that the circuit breaker has a 2-pole structure, which can simultaneously protect the positive and negative poles of the DC circuit; DC "specifies its application scenario as DC circuits, distinguishing it from the technical characteristics of AC circuit breakers.

This circuit breaker adopts a modular design, with a compact size that can be flexibly embedded into standard guide rails for installation, saving space in the distribution cabinet. At the same time, it has good compatibility and can efficiently cooperate with other ABB distribution equipment to build a complete DC distribution protection system.

Core Features and Advantages

1. Accurate DC protection performance

In response to the characteristics of no zero crossing point and difficulty in extinguishing fault currents in DC circuits, the FAZ-C2/2-DC circuit breaker adopts a dedicated arc extinguishing structure design, which can quickly extinguish DC arcs and effectively avoid the risk of equipment burnout caused by arc reignition. Its C-type trip curve has been accurately calibrated, and in the event of a short circuit fault of 2-10 times the rated current in the circuit, it can quickly trip and cut off the faulty circuit in a very short time (usually not exceeding 0.1 seconds); When there is a slight overload, delayed tripping can be achieved according to the magnitude of the overload current, which not only avoids misoperation but also ensures the safety of the load and circuit.

2. Compact structure and high integration

The product width is only 17.5mm (single pole), and the total width of 2 poles meets the standard modular design. It can be directly installed on DIN 35mm standard rails and densely arranged with other micro distribution components (such as relays and contactors), greatly improving the space utilization of the distribution cabinet. It is especially suitable for space limited scenarios such as new energy charging piles and small energy storage systems.

3. Reliable mechanical and electrical performance

The circuit breaker adopts high-strength flame-retardant shell material, which meets the UL94 V0 flame retardant standard and can effectively resist the high temperature caused by circuit faults, preventing the spread of fire. The internal conductive components are made of high conductivity copper alloy, which has undergone special surface treatment to reduce contact resistance, minimize heat loss, and ensure long-term stability during operation. Its mechanical lifespan can reach over 10000 cycles, and its electrical lifespan can reach over 5000 cycles, making it suitable for frequent operating conditions.

4. Convenient operation and maintenance

The product is equipped with clear on/off indication signs, and the current working status of the circuit breaker can be visually judged through the color or status markings on the shell. The design of the operating handle conforms to ergonomics, and the opening and closing operations are lightweight and labor-saving, making it easy to operate even in small spaces. At the same time, the circuit breaker supports live plugging and unplugging (under standardized operation), which facilitates later maintenance and replacement, reducing downtime.

Applicable scenarios

FAZ-C2/2-DC circuit breakers are widely used in various DC power supply systems due to their precise protection performance and compact structure. The main scenarios include:

1. New energy field: DC side of photovoltaic inverters, energy storage battery pack circuits, internal control circuits of new energy vehicle charging piles, etc., used to protect core equipment such as batteries and inverters from short circuits and overload damage.

2. In the field of industrial control, PLC control systems, DC motor control circuits, industrial robot power supply circuits, etc. provide stable circuit protection for precision control equipment to avoid production interruptions caused by faults.

3. In the field of rail transit: DC auxiliary power supply systems for subway, light rail and other rail transit vehicles, such as distribution circuits for lighting and ventilation equipment, are suitable for complex environments such as vehicle vibration and high and low temperatures.

4. Communication and Data Center: Communication base station DC power system, data center UPS DC backup power circuit, to ensure the continuous and stable operation of communication equipment and servers.

5. Civil and commercial fields: DC lighting systems, small DC home appliance power supply circuits, emergency DC power supply systems, etc., to enhance the safety of civil and commercial DC circuits.

Installation and maintenance precautions

1. Installation specifications

-Before installation, it is necessary to confirm that the rated voltage and current of the circuit breaker match the actual circuit parameters to avoid protection failure caused by selection errors.

-During installation, it is necessary to strictly distinguish between DC positive and negative poles, correctly wire according to product identification, ensure firm wiring, and avoid poor contact and heat generation.

-Circuit breakers should be installed in a well ventilated, dust-free, and non corrosive gas environment, away from high temperature heat sources, to ensure good heat dissipation.

-When multiple circuit breakers are densely installed, sufficient heat dissipation space should be reserved to avoid mutual influence and performance degradation.

2. Maintenance points

-Regularly check the on/off status indication of the circuit breaker to confirm that it is working properly without any abnormal heating or discoloration.

-At least one mechanical operation test shall be conducted annually to manually open and close circuit breakers, checking for smooth operation and sensitive trip mechanisms.

-If the circuit breaker trips due to short circuit or overload, it is necessary to first troubleshoot and eliminate the circuit fault before closing the circuit breaker again. It is forbidden to forcefully close the circuit breaker before the fault is eliminated.

-After long-term use, if cracks, discoloration or abnormal operation feel are found on the circuit breaker housing, it should be replaced in a timely manner to avoid safety hazards.
