Performance characteristics

-Wide voltage input adaptation: With a wide range of AC/DC input characteristics, it can automatically recognize and adapt to 85-265V AC or 108-145V DC input power supplies without manual switching, meeting the power supply needs of different regions around the world;

-Efficient and energy-saving operation: The conversion efficiency can reach up to 95%, significantly reducing energy consumption and heat generation. Combined with natural convection cooling design, it reduces mechanical failure points and improves long-term operational reliability; The power factor correction function of the communication input terminal optimizes the load characteristics of the power grid and reduces interference to the power grid;

-Multiple safety protections: Built in dual stage current limiting, overvoltage shutdown circuit and other multiple protection mechanisms; When the load current exceeds 110% of the rated value (at 25 ℃ environment), the output voltage automatically drops to zero to limit the load current, and normal operation can be automatically restored after the overload is removed; Quickly turn off the output under overvoltage conditions to avoid damaging downstream equipment;

-Adaptation to harsh environments: The sealed shell design effectively prevents dust, water, and corrosion, and the G3 level environmental rating ensures stable operation in harsh industrial environments; The fanless design avoids problems such as fan dust accumulation and wear, further enhancing environmental adaptability;

-Flexible and convenient installation: Supports DIN rail (horizontal/vertical), bracket installation, and wall mounted installation in various ways, and can be flexibly deployed according to on-site space conditions; Standardized terminal design for quick wiring and maintenance;

-Complete safety certification: Through multiple international authoritative certifications, it can be used in hazardous areas such as Class 1, Div 2, Zone 2, etc., and also meets SELV safety standards, adapting to various hazardous and non hazardous environments in industrial sites;

-Status monitoring and alarm: Equipped with Form C relay status alarm output, it can provide real-time feedback on the power supply operation status, making it easy for operators to detect and handle power supply faults in a timely manner, ensuring system stability.

Working principle

The core working logic of the FOXBORO FPS400-24 P0922YU power module is to convert a wide range of AC or DC input power into a stable 24V DC isolated output, providing reliable power supply for DCS system components and field equipment. Firstly, after the external input power supply (AC or DC) is connected to the module, it undergoes preliminary rectification and filtering through a wide range input circuit to remove impurities and fluctuations in the input power supply; Subsequently, the processed power supply is converted into an appropriate intermediate voltage through a power conversion circuit, and then isolated by a transformer for secondary conversion and voltage stabilization to ensure that the output voltage is stable at 24V DC; In the scenario of communication input, the power factor correction circuit adjusts the active sine current waveform to achieve near unity power factor and optimize the interaction characteristics of the power grid. During operation, the built-in protection circuit of the module monitors the output current and voltage in real time. When the load current exceeds 110% of the rated value, the dual stage current limiting mechanism is activated, and the output voltage gradually drops to zero to limit the load current; If overvoltage abnormality is detected, immediately trigger the overvoltage shutdown circuit to cut off the output. At the same time, the module outputs operational status signals through Form C relays, and promptly sends out alarm signals when faults occur; In terms of heat dissipation, it relies on the natural convection of the sealed shell to dissipate heat without the need for fan assistance, ensuring stable heat dissipation in harsh environments.

Precautions

-Installation specifications: Installation personnel must have the qualification to operate industrial electrical equipment, and non professionals are strictly prohibited from operating; The installation location should be far away from strong electromagnetic interference sources, high-temperature heat sources, and corrosive gases, ensuring good ventilation and reserving sufficient natural convection heat dissipation space; Strictly follow the installation manual to select the installation method (DIN rail/bracket/wall mounted), ensure a firm installation, and avoid severe vibration affecting operational stability;

-Wiring operation: Before wiring, all input and output related power sources must be cut off, and the operation can only be carried out after the residual voltage of the module is completely released; The input and output cables should be shielded cables that meet the specifications, and the shielding layer should be reliably grounded at one end to avoid interference; Strictly distinguish between input terminals and output terminals, strictly prohibit reverse connection or short circuit, and match the wire diameter of the output terminal according to the load requirements to ensure a firm connection; To ensure system integrity, it is recommended not to power both the DIN rail base plate and on-site equipment from the same module at the same time;

-Load matching: Before use, it is necessary to accurately calculate the total power of the load to ensure that it does not exceed the module's 400W rated power and avoid long-term overload operation; When connecting 200 series FBMs, it is necessary to confirm the compatibility of the module with the base plate and module. This module is only compatible with Foxboro Standard 200 series related components;

-Power on and operation: Before powering on, confirm again that the input voltage range is compatible with the module, and that the wiring is not loose or short circuited; After powering on, observe the status indicator light and alarm relay output to confirm that the module is starting normally; Regularly check the surface temperature of the module during operation. If there is abnormal overheating, immediately turn off the power for troubleshooting;

-Storage and transportation: Original professional packaging should be used during storage and transportation to avoid water splashing, rain, direct sunlight, strong vibration and impact; The storage environment should be dry and ventilated, away from corrosive gases and high temperature and humidity environments; Lift and place gently during transportation, firmly grasp the main body of the shell to avoid collision and damage to internal components;

-Fault handling: If there is an output interruption or alarm signal, first check whether the input power supply is normal, whether the wiring is loose or short circuited; If there is an overload situation, it is necessary to investigate the fault at the load end, remove the overload, restart the module and observe whether it is restored; If the module cannot be restored normally, it is necessary to contact professional maintenance personnel for maintenance. When replacing, ensure that the model is FPS400-24 P0922YU to avoid compatibility issues affecting system operation.
