Users can load the software configuration tool on a laptop, download the configuration settings, edit them on the PC, and then upload the configuration file to the board via a serial connection.

The board is designed to support auxiliary boards mounted on the board that connect directly to connectors on the board to provide additional functionality to the board. Before replacing the board, the user needs to remove the auxiliary boards and then install the auxiliary boards onto the new drive control board.
