Product Overview

The IS215ACLEH1AB module is an important part of the GE EX2100 series of control systems, which are microprocessor-based and designed to perform a variety of functions across communication networks such as Ethernet and ISBus. The module has a high degree of reliability and stability, and is capable of meeting a variety of industrial automation and process automation needs.

Main Functional Features

Central Processing Unit (CPU): At the heart of the IS215ACLEH1AB module is a powerful central processor that executes commands, processes data and coordinates various tasks within the control system.

Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) Controller: The module is equipped with a PCI controller that facilitates communication and data transfer between the module and peripheral devices connected to the PCI bus, thereby enhancing the connectivity and interoperability of the module.

Cache: Contains 128 KB of Level 2 cache memory, which enhances the processing power of the module by providing high-speed access to frequently used data and instructions.

Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM): features 8 MB of DRAM, providing the module with ample memory capacity to store and manipulate data during operation.

Flash Basic Input/Output System (BIOS): Featuring a 4 MB flash BIOS that contains basic firmware and system configuration settings, enabling the module to reliably boot and initialise its hardware components.

Ethernet connectivity: Integrated Ethernet connectivity allows seamless communication and data exchange over Ethernet networks, supporting remote monitoring, control and configuration.

Bus Target Interface: Provides a bus target interface that facilitates communication and data transfer between the module and other devices or subsystems within the control system.

Serial Ports: Features serial ports COM1 and COM2, providing additional connectivity options for connecting to external devices or peripherals.

Deployment and Installation

Deployment Location: The IS215ACLEH1AB module is typically deployed in a standard Innovative Series drive or EX2100 excitation board rack, occupying two and a half slots within the rack. In a typical industrial setup, the module and board rack are located in the control cabinet.

Connector Configuration: The module's P1 connector, in a 4-row 128-pin configuration, plays a critical role in connecting to other components such as the Control Assembly Backplane (CABP) in drive applications.

Installation procedure: For EX2100 exciter systems, the IS215ACLEH1AB module is mounted within the exciter backplane (EBKP) to facilitate centralised control and monitoring functions.

Configurable block features include: 

 Independent scaling for each input and output. 

 Fault reports to the host can be enabled or disabled for each input and output. 

 Selectable Input Filter Time up to 1024ms. 

 Each input can operate in normal analog input mode, or report only its alarm status. 

 Low and high alarm limits for each input, in either normal input mode or alarm input mode. 

 Powerup default values for each output. 

 Each output can be configured to hold last state or default if CPU communications are lost. 

 Input Low Alarm and High Alarm detection. 

 Open Wire detection on current mode inputs. 

 Input Underrange or Overrange. 

 Output Underrange or Overrange.
