Description
NASM02 Analog Slave Module

ABB NASM02 Analog Slave Module

Basic Introduction

ABB NASM02 Analog Slave Module is an analog slave module from ABB for industrial automation control systems. In the automation system architecture, it usually works with the master controller (e.g. PLC or DCS) and is responsible for processing the input and output of analog signals, playing a key role in the data acquisition and control of the whole system.

Functional Characteristics

Analog signal input function

Multi-Channel Analog Input: Generally has multiple analog input channels, the number of channels may vary depending on the specific model, usually between 4 - 8 channels. These channels can simultaneously receive analog signals from different sensors, such as temperature sensors (output voltage or current signals to indicate temperature), pressure sensors, flow sensors, etc., thus realizing simultaneous acquisition of multiple industrial process parameters.

Wide-range signal reception: capable of receiving multiple types and ranges of analog input signals. Common input signal ranges include voltage signals (e.g. 0 - 10V, - 10V - +10V) and current signals (e.g. 4 - 20mA). This wide range of signal acceptance makes it compatible with a wide range of industry standard sensors, facilitating system integration in different industrial application scenarios.

High-precision signal acquisition: High precision in analog signal acquisition process. Through the built-in high-precision analog-to-digital converter (ADC), analog signals can be accurately converted into digital signals for subsequent transmission to the main controller. For example, its ADC resolution may reach 12 - 16 bits, which means it is able to divide analog signals into 2^12 - 2^16 different quantization levels, effectively improving the accuracy of signal acquisition.

Analog Signal Output Functions

Precision Analog Output: Multiple analog output channels are available for outputting analog control signals. Output signal types include, but are not limited to, voltage signals (e.g., 0 - 10V, - 10V - +10V) and current signals (e.g., 4 - 20mA). The output signals are highly accurate to meet the requirements of precise control of external actuators, and the output accuracy is usually around 0.1% - 0.5% of full scale.

Flexible Output Configuration: The output signal can be flexibly configured according to different application requirements. For example, the range, offset and gain of the output signal can be adjusted to adapt to the input requirements of different actuators (e.g., control valves, inverters, etc.) to ensure precise control of industrial equipment.

Communication Functions and System Integration

Slave communication support: As a slave module, it follows a specific communication protocol to communicate with the master controller. Commonly supported protocols include Profibus - DP, Modbus, and so on. Through these communication protocols, it can receive the control commands sent by the master controller in real time, and at the same time, it will collect the analog input signals or its own status information and timely feedback to the master controller, so as to realize the data interaction and cooperative work within the system.

Easy System Integration: Excellent in system integration, it has a standard installation and interface design, easy to be installed in the control cabinet and physically connected with other devices. Interface types typically include RS-485 interfaces (for communication protocols such as Profibus - DP and Modbus), etc. These interfaces comply with industry standards and are easy to connect to main controllers, sensors and actuators, reducing the complexity of system integration.
