FOXBORO P0916WE Terminal Cable

Product Overview

FOXBORO P0916WE terminal cable is a high-performance connection component designed by FOXBORO Corporation for industrial automation control systems in the United States. It belongs to the FOXBORO I/A Series system supporting product line. The core function of this cable is to achieve reliable signal transmission between field instruments (such as transmitters and actuators) and control system I/O modules. As a key link of the industrial control "nervous system", its design is fully adapted to harsh industrial environments and can work stably in scenarios with dust, humidity, and severe temperature differences, ensuring the real-time and integrity of control signals.

Compared with terminal cables of the same series (such as P0916VB, P0916DD), P0916WE continues the core advantage of high reliability of FOXBORO products, and optimizes the anti-interference requirements for signal transmission. It is widely used in signal interconnection scenarios in the field of process control and is a standard connecting component for automation systems in industries such as petrochemicals and power energy.

Performance characteristics

-Super environmental adaptability: polyurethane sheath has excellent aging resistance, oil resistance and chemical stability, and can withstand the corrosion of acid, alkali, steam and lubricating oil common in industrial scenarios; -Wide temperature range of 40 ℃~+85 ℃, suitable for extreme temperature applications such as polar scientific research stations and desert oil fields.

-High reliability connection: The M12 connector adopts a threaded locking structure, with a plug-in life of ≥ 1000 times and a gold-plated contact resistance of ≤ 10m Ω, effectively avoiding poor contact problems in vibration environments; The multi strand copper conductor design enhances cable flexibility, with a bending radius up to 6 times the cable diameter, making it easy to route in narrow spaces.

-Excellent anti-interference ability: The insulation layer is made of high dielectric constant materials, combined with conductor twisting technology, which provides shielding attenuation of ≥ 40dB against external electromagnetic interference (EMI), effectively avoiding interference from industrial motors, frequency converters and other equipment on control signals, ensuring that the transmission error of 4-20mA analog signals is ≤ 0.1%.

-Long term durability: The sheath material has an anti UV aging rating of UV5 and an outdoor service life of ≥ 8 years; Tin plating treatment of conductors can prevent copper oxidation, extend the stability cycle of cable electrical performance, and reduce maintenance and replacement costs.

-Convenient installation: The cable surface is printed with length markings, making it easy to cut on site; The connector comes with a waterproof sealing ring, which does not require additional sealing treatment, and the installation time is reduced by 50% compared to ordinary cables.

Working principle

The FOXBORO P0916WE terminal cable serves as the "transmission carrier" for industrial control signals. Its core working principle is to achieve bidirectional transmission of electrical signals between field equipment and control systems through conductive circuits, which is divided into three key links:

1. Signal reception and transmission: On site instruments (such as pressure transmitters) convert physical quantities (pressure, temperature) into 4-20mA analog electrical signals or digital pulse signals, and then introduce the signals into the cable through a conductive circuit formed by cable conductors. The low resistance characteristics of multi stranded copper conductors ensure that the energy loss of the signal during transmission is ≤ 0.5%.

2. Interference shielding and signal fidelity: The cable insulation layer and sheath form a dual protection. The insulation layer prevents signal crosstalk between conductors, while the sheath attenuates external electromagnetic interference through material properties; For digital signal transmission, cables reduce signal reflection by matching impedance (50 Ω± 10%) to ensure distortion free transmission of high-frequency digital signals (up to 10Mbps).

3. Signal output and feedback: The fidelity processed signal is transmitted to the control system I/O module through the gold-plated contacts of the M12 connector, completing the "on-site data upload"; At the same time, the command signals of the control system (such as actuator action commands) can be transmitted in reverse to the on-site equipment through the same cable, forming a closed-loop control loop to achieve real-time adjustment of industrial processes.

In the FOXBORO I/A Series distributed control system, the cable works in conjunction with the terminal board and I/O module, ensuring that a single cable can simultaneously carry measurement signals, control instructions, and equipment status feedback signals through standardized signal transmission protocols, thereby improving system integration efficiency.

Precautions

This product is an industrial grade specialized cable that must be operated by professionals with industrial automation installation qualifications. Non professionals are strictly prohibited from installing, disassembling, or modifying it.

-Pre installation inspection: Before installation, check the appearance of the cable for any damage to the sheath, deformation of the connector, etc. Use a multimeter to measure the continuity of the conductor to ensure that the electrical performance of the cable is intact; Simultaneously confirm that the installation environment temperature and humidity meet the product specifications, and avoid forced installation in environments below -40 ℃ or above+85 ℃.

-Wiring specifications: Cables should be routed away from high-voltage cables (≥ 1kV), with a parallel laying time distance of ≥ 30cm; avoid direct contact with strong interference equipment such as industrial motors and frequency converters, and use metal cable trays for isolation if necessary; During the wiring process, excessive bending should be avoided (the bending radius should not be less than 6 times the cable diameter) to prevent conductor breakage or insulation layer damage.

-Connection operation: When installing the M12 connector, it should be tightened clockwise until a "click" sound is heard to ensure proper sealing; When disassembling, hold down the unlocking buckle and rotate counterclockwise. Do not forcefully pull or tug on the cable; Before connecting, it is necessary to clean the dust on the connector contacts to avoid poor contact and signal abnormalities.

-Maintenance and upkeep: Regularly (recommended every 6 months) check the aging condition of the cable sheath and the sealing performance of the connector. For areas contaminated with oil and dust, a dry cloth dipped in neutral cleaning agent can be used to wipe them; When the sheath is found to be damaged, it is necessary to wrap or replace the cable with industrial waterproof tape in a timely manner to avoid moisture intrusion and short circuit.

-Safety warning: It is strictly prohibited to plug or unplug connectors while they are live. The power supply of the relevant equipment must be cut off before operation can be carried out; When used in flammable and explosive environments (such as chemical explosion-proof areas), it is necessary to confirm that the cable meets the explosion-proof level requirements (the explosion-proof level of this product is Ex d IIB T4) to avoid safety accidents.

-Storage requirements: Unused cables should be stored in a dry and ventilated environment, avoiding direct sunlight and moisture and mold. The storage temperature range is -20 ℃~+50 ℃, and the relative humidity should be ≤ 75%. It is forbidden to store them in the same warehouse with organic solvents and corrosive gases.
