ABB Electrical TA75-DU Overload Relay Unit

Basic Information

The ABB Electrical TA75 - DU Overload Relay Unit is an overload relay unit. It is mainly used to monitor and protect electrical equipment from damage due to overload.

Functional features

Overload protection function:

The core function is to detect the amount of current in the circuit and when the detected current exceeds the set overload protection value, the relay will act. This action can be to cut off the circuit or to send an alarm signal, thus protecting the connected electrical equipment, such as motors, transformers, etc., from overheating damage due to prolonged overload operation.

Adjustable parameters:

Usually have adjustable overload protection setpoints. The user can flexibly set the current threshold of the overload protection according to the rated current of the protected equipment and the specific operating requirements. This ensures accurate protection for electrical equipment with different power and operating characteristics.

Reset function:

After the relay has been actuated due to an overload, it may have a manual or automatic reset function. Manual reset requires the operator to operate the reset button to restore the relay to its normal working state after eliminating the cause of the overload; automatic reset means that the relay can automatically return to its normal working state after the overload condition is lifted, depending on the design of the equipment and the application scenario.

Auxiliary contact function:

Generally equipped with auxiliary contacts. These auxiliary contacts can be used to connect external control circuits or alarm devices. For example, when the relay operates, the auxiliary contact can close or break a signal circuit, which can be used to trigger the alarm light or send a fault signal to the control system, so that the user can understand the operating condition of the equipment in time.

Application Areas

Industrial motor control:

In the industrial environment, a large number of applications for motor protection. For example, in factory production equipment, whether it is lathe motors, conveyor belt motors or fan motors, the TA75-DU can provide overload protection to ensure stable operation of the motor and reduce production interruptions caused by motor failure.

Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems:

Used in a building's HVAC system to protect equipment such as air conditioning compressor motors and ventilator motors. When an abnormality occurs in the system, such as a blocked air duct that causes the fan motor to overload, the relay can protect the motor in time to improve the reliability of the system.

Other electrical equipment protection:

It can also be used to protect a variety of electrical equipment at risk of overload, such as transformers, pump motors, etc. It plays an important protective role in areas such as power distribution and water supply and drainage systems.

OTHER INFORMATION

• The operator panel is designed for stationary installation on a planar surface, where the following conditions are fulfilled: 

– no high explosive risks 

– no strong magnetic fields 

– no direct sunlight 

– no large, sudden temperature changes 

• Install the operator panel according to the accompanying installation instructions. 

• Ground the operator panel according to the accompanying installation instructions. 

• Only qualified personnel may install the operator panel. 

• Separate the high voltage, signal and supply cables. 

• Make sure that the voltage and polarity of the power source is correct before connecting the operator panel to the power outlet. 

• Peripheral equipment must be appropriate for the application and location. 

• In a Zone 2 environment, this equipment shall be installed in an enclosure that provides a degree of protection not less than IP 54 or greater than IP 65 in accordance with IEC/EN 600079-0. The IP rating of the equipment is limited to the IP rating of the enclosure it is to be installed into. 

• In a Zone 22 environment, this equipment shall be installed in an enclosure that provides a degree of protection not less than IP 64 or greater than IP 65 in accordance with IEC/EN 600079-0. The IP rating of the equipment is limited to the IP rating of the enclosure it is to be installed into.
