WOODWARD 8440-1706A SPM-D11 is the core module of Woodward's SPM (Synchronous Phase Modulator) series, serving as a key component of the automatic synchronization and load distribution control system for synchronous generators. This module is designed for parallel operation of multiple generator sets, providing precise voltage matching, frequency matching, and phase synchronization functions. It is widely used in key applications such as ship power systems, shore power systems, islanded microgrids, and industrial backup power stations.


Core technical functions

Accurate automatic synchronization

Voltage matching: Monitor the voltage between the grid connection point and the generator, with an accuracy of ± 0.5%

Frequency matching: Accurately adjust the frequency through the governor interface, with a synchronization window of ≤± 0.1Hz

Phase capture: Real time calculation of phase difference, issuing closing command when the phase difference approaches zero degrees

Adjustable parameters: Users can set synchronization parameters such as slip rate, phase angle difference, voltage difference, etc

Load allocation and frequency control

Active load distribution: Active power is proportionally distributed between multiple parallel units, with an imbalance of less than 2%

Reactive load distribution: Control reactive power distribution through a voltage regulator

Frequency droop control: supports differential/non differential adjustment modes to maintain grid frequency stability

Load request function: automatically start and stop standby units according to grid demand

Comprehensive protection function

Synchronous protection: prevents asynchronous grid connection, with advanced/delayed phase judgment

Reverse power protection: detects and prevents the generator from operating as an electric motor

Fault recording: Record key electrical parameters before and after grid connection for event analysis
