Key electrical and performance parameters

Power supply demand

DC 24V ± 15% input, rated power consumption 18W, maximum power consumption 22W (full channel full load operation)

It can be powered directly from the ABB Advant Master series rack backplane and also supports external independent power supply; Equipped with overvoltage (36V) and overcurrent (1.5A) protection functions, it automatically cuts off the output in case of faults to avoid module damage

Counting channel configuration

16 independent counting channels, supporting pulse input (5V/24V DC photoelectric isolation), direction signal input (24V DC), and gate control signal input (24V DC); Each channel is equipped with 2 alarm outputs (transistor output, 24V DC/2A)

Complete electrical isolation between channels (isolation voltage 2500V AC, 1 minute) to avoid signal interference between channels; The alarm output can be configured to trigger modes such as counting up to standard, exceeding range, and channel failure

Counting performance

Counting range ± 2 ³ ¹ -1 (32-bit signed integer), maximum counting frequency 5MHz (single ended input)/10MHz (differential input), counting accuracy ± 1 pulse, response time ≤ 50ns

Supports three modes: incremental counting, decremental counting, and bidirectional counting; Adapt RS422/TTL encoder signals in differential input mode to achieve closed-loop position control of high-speed moving equipment

Communication and Interface

Built in Profibus DP slave interface (supports DPV0/DPV1 protocol, maximum communication speed of 12Mbps), module status indicator lights (power, communication, channel faults), test port (for offline calibration)

Through Profibus DP, data exchange is achieved with the main controller, and the data update cycle can be as low as 1ms. It supports module level diagnostic information upload and complies with the IEC 61158 standard

working environment

Temperature -25 ℃ to+65 ℃, humidity 5% -95% (no condensation), protection level IP20 (module body), anti electromagnetic interference level IEC 61000-6-2 (level 3)

Suitable for general industrial environments, such as workshop assembly lines, metallurgical workshop control rooms, etc; Using wide temperature components, it can withstand temperature fluctuations caused by equipment start and stop

Core functions and technological advantages

1. High precision counting and pulse processing capability

Multi mode counting control: The basic functions cover single counting (stopping after completing the preset counting after triggering), cycle counting (automatically resetting and restarting after reaching the set value), and continuous counting (unlimited accumulation, supporting manual resetting); Advanced features include preset value comparison (8 step preset values can be set, each corresponding to an independent alarm output), difference counting (calculation of pulse difference between two input signals, adapted to tension control scenarios). Taking the measurement of steel strip length in the metallurgical industry as an example, encoder pulses are collected through a 5MHz high-speed counting channel, and combined with the circumference parameters of the steel strip, a length accuracy control of 0.1mm level can be achieved.

High frequency signal anti-interference design: Each channel is equipped with a built-in hardware filtering circuit (1kHz-1MHz filtering frequency can be configured through software), which can effectively filter out electromagnetic noise interference in industrial environments; When using differential signal reception mode, common mode interference is eliminated by calculating the difference between the positive and negative terminals of the signal. Even near high-voltage frequency converters (such as motor control workshops), counting accuracy at a frequency of 5MHz can still be guaranteed.

Synchronization and trigger control: supports external gate control signal triggering (high level effective/low level effective can be configured), realizing pulse counting within a specific time period (such as flow pulse statistics during the feeding stage of chemical reaction kettle); Equipped with channel synchronization function, 16 channels can achieve precise coordination of start/stop through synchronization signals, suitable for position synchronization control of multi axis linkage equipment.

2. High reliability and diagnostic capability

Hardware redundancy and protection: The power circuit adopts a dual filtering design to reduce the impact of voltage fluctuations on the counting chip; Each channel is equipped with an independent signal conditioning circuit, and a single channel failure does not affect the operation of other channels; The module has a built-in watchdog timer that automatically enters a safe state (alarm output activated, counting paused) when communication with the main controller is interrupted for more than 100ms.

Full dimensional diagnostic function: supports three-level diagnostic mechanisms - module level (power failure, communication interruption), channel level (signal loss, over range), and component level (abnormal counting chip, alarm output failure); Diagnostic information is uploaded in real-time to the main controller through Profibus DP, and the fault location and cause can be visually displayed in ABB Control Builder software, reducing troubleshooting time to less than 10 minutes.

Hot swappable and maintenance convenience: Supports hot swappable modules, so there is no need to shut down the main system when replacing modules; The module has a built-in parameter storage chip, which automatically restores the original configuration parameters after replacement without the need for reprogramming; The front panel is equipped with channel status LED lights (green normal, red fault, yellow counting), which can quickly determine the operating status through visual inspection.

3. Flexible adaptation and system integration

Controller compatibility: Deeply compatible with mainstream controllers such as ABB T series (such as T-1521Z), Advant OCS, etc., plug and play through Profibus DP interface, the controller can automatically identify module models and channel configurations; Supports the IEC 61131-3 standard programming language, which allows direct calling of counting function blocks (such as COUNT, COMPARE) in ladder diagrams (LD) and structured text (ST), simplifying the programming process.

Expansion and linkage capability: Through Profibus DP, up to 32 modules of the same type can be cascaded to achieve 512 counting channel expansion, suitable for large-scale logistics sorting systems (such as multi conveyor parcel counting in express sorting centers); The alarm output can be directly linked to ABB DO modules (such as AO890) to achieve control actions such as valve opening and closing, motor start and stop after counting meets the standard, with a response delay of ≤ 10ms.
