GE ACC-5595 hosting hub




The GE ACC-5595 is a managed hub designed to operate with GE Smart Platform 5565 Series Reflective Memory real-time networking products. Reflective memory hubs can automatically bypass ports when they detect a loss of signal or a loss of effective synchronization mode, allowing other nodes in the network to remain operational.


Since optical ports are implemented using SFP (small form factor pluggable) trans receivers, only the required ports need to be filled. The ACC-5595 SFP optical module can be a combination of multi-mode (short distance) or single-mode (long distance) optical modules. This feature allows for cost savings as well as system optimization in small networks. For larger networks, several AC-5595 components can be cascaded to allow an array of hosted hubs of up to 256 nodes. Each port regenerates the serial optical signal, eliminating insertion losses and cable attenuation. Signal regeneration also reduces jitter. The RS232 port enables you to monitor and control your reflected memory network via a simple PC serial port. The Ethernet port feature allows you to monitor and control hubs remotely via a local area network (LAN) or Web browser.


The AC-5595 can be configured as a 19-inch 1U rack case or a desktop case. Universal power supply allows operation of almost any international power supply standard.


When no valid synchronization mode is detected, the AC-5595 automatically bypasses the port. Three leds, adjacent to each port, provide a visual indication of port status. Other status indicators and modes of operation are available via serial or Ethernet ports. Status information includes the detection of the installed transceiver, the detection of the signal (light), the detection of the effective synchronization mode, and the port operating speed (2gb /s). The control register allows channels to be bypassed based on the absence of a single valid synchronization mode or multiple synchronization modes. The bypass can also be simply based on the loss of signal (light).


In addition, each port can be manually forced activated or bypassed regardless of the status indicator. An additional control register allows the transmitter to be manually converted on any port.
