GE IC698PSA100 Power supply module
GE IC698PSA100 Power supply module
DESCRIPTION
The GE IC698PSA100 power supply module plays an important role in industrial automation and control systems due to its versatility, stability and reliability.
Main Functions
This PACSystems module provides +5VDC, +12VDC and -12VDC power supplies as well as logic level sequence signals to the modules on the backplane to ensure stable system power supply.
Technical Specifications
Installation Location: Plugs directly into the leftmost slot of the standard RX7i series rack, i.e., slot 0.
Input Voltage Range:
AC: 85 to 264V (nominal 120/240V) at 47 to 63Hz.
DC: 100 to 150V (125V nominal).
External power connection:
Connections must be made with AWG #16 (1.3mm²) solid or stranded copper wire with an insulation rating of 75°C (167°F).
For ground connections, use AWG #12 (3.3mm²) copper wire with an insulation rating of 75°C (167°F).
Output Voltage and Current:
+5VDC: Output up to 20A.
+12VDC: Output up to 2A (some literature refers to a nominal output of up to 2.5A at +12VDC, but the output is normally 2A).
-12VDC: Output up to 1A (some sources mention a nominal output of up to 3.5A at -12VDC, but the output is usually 1A).
Output Power: Allows 100 watts total output power at ambient temperatures from 0°C to 60°C (some literature mentions a nominal 125 watts, but typically the output is 100 watts).
Ride-through and hold-up times: Minimum ride-through time of 15 milliseconds, minimum hold-up time of 5 milliseconds.
Protection features: overcurrent, overheat and overvoltage protection.
Design Features
Structure: Simple slide-in rack mounting structure for easy installation and maintenance.
Switches: A two-position on/off switch is provided on the front panel to enable or disable the output channels without interrupting the AC line input.
Indicators: LED indicators are provided to indicate field and output status and will illuminate when power is applied within acceptable limits and the DC output channels are functioning properly.
Power Factor Correction: AC operation is power factor corrected.
Isolation Voltage: The isolation voltage in the module is 1500VDC.
Application Areas
GE IC698PSA100 multifunction power modules are widely used in various industrial automation and control systems, including but not limited to the following areas:
Manufacturing: to provide stable power supply for production lines, machines and automation equipment.
Process Control: Provide power for control systems, sensors and actuators in chemical, petroleum, food processing and other fields.
Power industry: power supply for power distribution, generation and substation equipment.
Building automation: in building management systems, power supply for lighting, HVAC, security systems and other equipment.
Water treatment: power supply for treatment equipment and monitoring systems in water treatment plants and sewage treatment plants.
Traffic control: to provide power for traffic lights, railway signals and tunnel safety equipment.
FUNCTION
The module occupies a single slot in a redundant rack and hastwo connectors, the top connector isfor attachment to the Bus Transmitter Module in the other rack section. and the bottom connector is unused. Five green LEDs provide status indication of the health of the RCM module and monitor the controlstatus ofthe Hot Standby CPU Redundancy system. These LEDS are labeled BOARD OK, LOCAL READY, LOCAL ACTIVE, REMOTE READY, and REMOTE ACTIVE. Local refers to the system that the RCM is in; remote is the other system connected through the expansion bus A pushbutton on the module allows you to manually switch control from the active to the backup unit (if the backup unit is ready) which allows maintenance of the previously active unit while the system is on-line. The RCM must be configured into the FIP redundancy system using the MS-DOSr or Windowsr programming software configuration function.
