ABB NTU-7I4 Digital Input Termination Unit

Basic information

Series: belongs to ABB Bailey Infi 90 series, which is widely used in industrial automation control system and recognised in the market for its reliability and high performance.

Function: It is mainly used for receiving and processing digital input signals and transmitting them to the control system in order to monitor and control various equipments and states in the industrial production process.

Performance Characteristics

Signal Acquisition Capability: With multiple digital input channels, it can receive multiple digital signals at the same time, which can meet the monitoring requirements of multiple devices or signal sources in industrial sites. The specific number of channels is not clearly indicated, but from the series of products and similar models, it may be between 4-16.

Signal compatibility: Compatible with a variety of types of digital input signals, such as dry contact signals and active signals, etc., support for different voltage and current ranges, can adapt to such as TTL levels, CMOS levels, or common industrial standard 24V DC signals.

Signal Processing and Transmission: Capable of performing basic logic operations on the collected digital signals, such as and, or, not, etc., and converting the processed signals into a format suitable for transmission in industrial communication networks, and sending the signals to the host controller through specific industrial communication protocols.

Reliability and protection: In order to prevent external electrical interference on the internal circuitry of the module and the control system caused by damage, the module usually has electrical isolation, while the built-in over-voltage and over-current protection mechanism, can effectively protect the safety and reliability of the equipment.

Technical parameters

Electrical parameters: the working voltage is generally DC voltage, the range may be around 18V-30V DC, the input voltage and current range varies according to different signal types, the external power supply voltage range of dry contact signals is wider, and active signals support a variety of common level standards, the overall power consumption of the module is relatively low, usually between a few watts to a dozen watts.

Performance parameters: response time is generally between microseconds to milliseconds, to ensure timely signal acquisition. Although there is no exact number of input channels, but inferred from the model and similar products, should be between 4-16, the channel configuration may be independent or group configuration.

Environmental parameters: operating temperature range is usually - 20 ℃ - +70 ℃ or so, the relative humidity range is generally 5% -95% (non-condensing), with a certain level of protection, such as IP20 or higher, can be adapted to a variety of industrial environments.

Application Fields

Industrial automation production line: In automobile manufacturing, machining, electronic assembly and other production lines, it is used to collect motor run/stop signals, conveyor belt position sensor signals, robot working status signals and other equipment status signals, to provide data support for the automation control of the production line, and to realise the equipment fault monitoring and automation control logic.

Process control system: In the process control system of chemical reactor and pharmaceutical equipment, it is used to collect the alarm signal of reactor temperature exceeding the limit, the signal of valve switching status, and the signal of stirring motor operation, etc., to help operators understand the status of the production process in real time, and ensure the safety and stability of the production process.

Intelligent Building System: In the HVAC system, lighting system and lift system of intelligent buildings, it collects air-conditioning unit running/stopping signals, lighting switching status signals and lift floor position signals, etc., so as to achieve centralised monitoring and management of the building equipment, and to improve the efficiency of energy utilisation and the comfort of living.
