Basic Introduction

ABB PHARPSPEP21013 Power Entry Panel Dual Chassis is a dual chassis power entry panel manufactured by ABB. It is mainly used to provide centralised power entry and distribution functions for complex electrical equipment or systems, and is a key component in ensuring that power enters each module within the equipment in a safe and orderly manner.

Functional features

Dual Chassis Design

The unique dual chassis structure provides more space for arranging power lines and related components. This design allows for better separation of circuits for different functions. For example, one chassis can be used for the main power input and initial filtering process, while the other chassis is used for more delicate power distribution and protection circuits, which helps to improve the reliability and maintainability of the system.

Power Entry and Distribution Functions

Equipped with multiple power input connectors, it is capable of simultaneously accessing multiple power sources of different voltage levels and types (e.g. AC or DC). It can effectively distribute the input power to various subsystems or modules of the equipment, ensuring that each part receives a stable power supply. For example, in a large industrial automation equipment, it can distribute the main power of 380V AC into several branch power sources of 24V DC and 220V AC to supply different control modules, sensors and actuators.

Complete protection

A variety of power protection mechanisms are integrated. It usually includes over-current protection, over-voltage protection and short-circuit protection. When abnormal current or voltage fluctuations or short-circuit conditions occur, the corresponding circuit can be quickly cut off to protect the equipment from damage. For example, if a short circuit occurs in a branch circuit, the power access panel can detect and disconnect the power supply of the branch circuit in a very short time to prevent the fault from expanding.

Filtering Function

The built-in power filter circuit is capable of filtering the incoming power supply. This effectively removes high-frequency noise and interference signals from the power supply, providing a relatively pure power supply. In industrial environments where there are a large number of sources of electromagnetic interference, such as motors and frequency converters, this filtering function ensures the quality of the power supplied to the equipment and reduces equipment failures due to power interference.

Input Characteristics

Voltage range: Supports a wide range of input voltages, depending on the application for which it is designed, which may cover from 100V AC to 480V AC (alternating current) or the corresponding DC voltage range. This allows it to adapt to different regional grid voltages or different types of power supply access requirements.

Current capacity: It has a rated input current capacity, which can be, for example, tens of amperes or even higher. This parameter determines the maximum input current it can withstand, thus limiting the total load power it can access.

Output Characteristics

Number of Outputs: The number of output branches varies depending on the model and design, usually 4 - 10 or more. These branches can provide independent power outputs for different equipment modules.

Output Voltage Types and Accuracy: A variety of voltage types can be output, such as DC voltage (e.g. 5V DC, 12V DC, 24V DC, etc.) and AC voltage (e.g. 110V AC, 220V AC, etc.). The output voltage has a certain accuracy, for example, for DC output voltage, the accuracy may be within ±5% to ensure stable and accurate power supply for equipment.

Electrical isolation performance

Typically, there is good electrical isolation between inputs and outputs and between different output branches. Isolation voltages can reach thousands of volts, e.g. 1500V - 3000V. This isolation prevents electrical faults from propagating between different circuits and improves the safety of the system.

Application Areas

Industrial automation equipment

Widely used in automated production lines, CNC machine tools, industrial robots and other equipment. These equipments usually consist of multiple complex electrical modules and require stable and reliable power supply and distribution systems. This power access panel can effectively manage the power supply to ensure the normal operation of each part of the equipment and improve the overall reliability and productivity of the equipment.

Communication equipment

It is used to provide power access and distribution for communication equipment (such as servers, switches, routers, etc.) in places where communication equipment is concentrated, such as communication base stations and server rooms. It can meet the high requirements of communication equipment for power quality and stability, and at the same time ensure the safe operation of communication equipment in the complex power environment through its protection function.

Power electronic equipment test platform

In the R&D and testing process of power electronic equipment, it serves as the core equipment for power access and distribution.
