ABOUT THE UR-8LH

General Electric Multilin’s UR-8LH is a CT/VT module designed for the Universal Relay series. The module can be used to replace current modules, upgrade current modules, or provide new capabilities to Universal Relays that did not originally come with the given module. This particular module supplies the relay with 4CT/4VT with enhanced diagnostics.

Main Functions

The UR-8LH module provides interfaces to four current transformers (CTs) and four voltage transformers (VTs) for the relay, enabling it to receive and process current and voltage signals from the power system. The module also features enhanced diagnostic capabilities that verify the integrity of analogue signals to ensure system reliability. Through the use of advanced algorithms, the UR-8LH module can detect faults in analogue measurement channels and issue alarms to prevent protection functions from malfunctioning due to faults.

Signal Processing Capability

The CT/VT transformer in the UR-8LH module scales current and voltage values down to quantities that can be handled by the relay, allowing the relay to calculate ratio values related to current and voltage. This feature is critical for identifying hazardous voltage and current conditions within a system and establishing an appropriate response.

Data Viewing and Configuration

Data from the UR-8LH module can be viewed via the front panel LCD display or on a computer running the EnerVista UR software program, which not only allows the user to view module data, but also supports configuration of the CT/VT module to meet the unique needs of different user systems.
