TRICONEX 4000094-350 Tricon TMR Controller: High Availability Industrial Safety Control Platform

The TRICONEX Tricon controller (models ranging from v9 to v11 series, including related components such as 4000103-546) is a high-performance, high availability programmable logic and process controller launched by Schneider Electric's brand TRICONEX. This system is designed specifically for safety critical industrial applications and adopts an advanced Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) architecture to ensure error free and uninterrupted control in the event of hardware or transient failures, significantly improving the safety and availability of the system.


Core feature: Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) architecture

The core of the Tricon controller lies in its TMR architecture. The system consists of three identical independent channels (except for the dual redundant power module), each of which executes the same control program in parallel. All inputs and outputs are 'voted' through dedicated hardware and software mechanisms. This means that even if one channel fails, the other two channels can still maintain normal system operation and automatically block the faulty channel, achieving true fault-tolerant control. The system supports online maintenance and module level hot plugging, and there is no need to interrupt on-site wiring or control processes when replacing I/O modules.


Flexible system configuration and scalability

A complete Tricon system can include up to 15 racks and support up to 118 I/O modules. The system rack is divided into three types: main frame, expansion frame, and remote expansion (RXM) frame. The main framework accommodates the main processor module and I/O module; The extension framework is used to increase I/O capacity and usually needs to be arranged within a range of 100 feet (30 meters) from the main framework; The RXM framework, through fiber optic communication modules such as the SRXM module, can extend I/O to remote locations 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) away from the main framework, greatly enhancing the flexibility of system layout.

Intelligent I/O module and online diagnosis

Tricon's I/O modules are equipped with intelligent microprocessors to share the workload of the main processor. Each input module filters and denounces the signal, and performs hardware diagnostics; The output module is responsible for voting on the output data, verifying the output status through read back, and diagnosing on-site circuit problems. The system has comprehensive online diagnosis and adaptive repair capabilities. The LED status indicator light can intuitively display the module's operating status, support remote data recording and report generation, and facilitate predictive maintenance.


Powerful communication and integration capabilities

The controller supports multiple communication modules and can easily communicate with Modbus master/slave devices, Foxboro and Honeywell distributed control systems (DCS), external hosts on Ethernet, and other Triconex controllers. For example, the Advanced Communication Module (ACM) can be integrated with Foxboro I/A series DCS; The Network Communication Module (NCM) supports Ethernet communication and GPS time synchronization; The Unified Communication Module (UCM) is specifically designed for Foxboro Evo ™ The design of process automation system has achieved deeper system integration.


Extensive international certification and strict environmental adaptability

The Tricon controller has been certified by multiple international authoritative organizations, including the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Factory Mutual (FM), Bureau Veritas, T Ü V Rheinland, the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), etc. It complies with multiple standards such as IEC 61508 (SIL 1-3), ATEX (Explosion proof), and the EU CE mark, and is suitable for nuclear grade 1E applications, marine environments, and Class I Division 2 hazardous areas. In addition, the system can operate stably in the G3 (severe) corrosive environment defined by ISA S71.04 standard through mixed flow gas testing, and can be optionally equipped with a three proof coating to enhance durability in harsh industrial environments.


Software support and programming environment

The control program of the system is transmitted through TriStation ™  1131 or TriStation MSW software development and download. TriStation 1131 follows the IEC 61131-3 standard and supports three programming languages: functional block diagram, ladder diagram, and structured text. It can also be optionally equipped with the causal matrix (CEMPLE) language, providing engineers with flexible and powerful programming tools.
