ABB FAZ-C10/1 miniature circuit breaker

Core parameters of the product

The core parameters are the basis for understanding the adaptation scenarios and protection capabilities of circuit breakers. The key parameters of FAZ-C10/1 are as follows, all of which comply with relevant international and domestic standards:

-Model analysis: "FAZ" is the identification of ABB miniature circuit breaker FAZ series, which is characterized by miniaturization and high reliability; C10 "represents a C-type tripping curve with a rated current of 10A. The C-type curve is suitable for scenarios where resistive and inductive loads are mixed, such as lighting, household appliance circuits, etc. The short-circuit instantaneous tripping current is 5-10 times the rated current, balancing protection sensitivity and load adaptability; '/1' means the number of poles is 1, which only protects a single phase line and is suitable for single-phase distribution circuits.

-Rated voltage: AC 230V/400V, suitable for single-phase 220V (230V is the standard rated value) and single-phase branch circuits in China's low-voltage distribution system and three-phase 400V system.

-Rated breaking capacity: Under AC 230V voltage, the rated breaking capacity can reach 6kA, which can effectively cut off short-circuit current in common low-voltage distribution scenarios and avoid safety accidents caused by continuous arc combustion.

-Tripping method: adopting thermal magnetic tripping, in which the thermal tripping component achieves overload protection through thermal deformation of bimetallic sheets, and can delay tripping according to the magnitude of overload current to avoid instantaneous impulse current misoperation; The magnetic release component drives the release mechanism through the magnetic field generated by the electromagnetic coil, achieving instantaneous release of short-circuit faults and quickly cutting off the fault circuit.

-Installation size: With a width of only 18mm, it belongs to the standard modular design and can be directly installed on 35mm rails that comply with DIN standards, saving installation space inside the distribution box and facilitating dense layout.

Core performance characteristics

As a mature product of ABB, FAZ-C10/1 fully considers safety, reliability, and practicality in performance design, with core features including:

1. Precise protection, safe and reliable: The thermal magnetic trip mechanism has been precisely calibrated, and the overload protection action value error is small, which can effectively avoid insulation aging, line heating and fire caused by line overload; Short circuit protection responds quickly and can usually be tripped within a few tens of milliseconds, minimizing damage to equipment and circuits caused by short-circuit currents. At the same time, the product adopts high flame retardant shell material, which meets the UL94 V0 flame retardant standard. It is not easy to burn under the action of fault arcs and can effectively block the spread of flames.

2. Compact design, easy installation: The narrow body width design of 18mm can save more distribution box space compared to traditional circuit breakers, especially suitable for scenarios with limited distribution box volume such as residential buildings and small shops. During installation, it can be clamped onto a 35mm standard guide rail without the need for additional tools. The wiring terminals are designed with crimping, ensuring secure wire connections and low contact resistance, effectively reducing heating issues at the connection points.

3. Stable and durable, with a long lifespan: The internal core components are made of high conductivity copper material, which has undergone special surface treatment and strong oxidation and corrosion resistance, ensuring stable conductivity during long-term use. The mechanical lifespan can reach over 10000 times, and the electrical lifespan can reach over 1000 times, meeting the needs of long-term frequent operation and reducing maintenance and replacement costs in the later stage.

4. Humanized operation, high recognition: equipped with clear on/off indicators, the indicator bar is green when closing and red when opening, making it easy for operation and maintenance personnel to quickly judge the working status of the circuit breaker. The operating handle has a comfortable feel, moderate opening and closing force, smooth operation process, and is not prone to misoperation.

Applicable scenarios

Based on the characteristics of the C-type trip curve, 10A rated current, and 1-pole structure, FAZ-C10/1 is mainly suitable for the protection of the following single-phase low-voltage distribution circuits:

-Residential buildings: can be used as lighting circuit protection for living rooms, bedrooms, and other areas, or as dedicated circuit protection for single-phase household appliances such as air conditioners (1.5 horsepower and below), washing machines, refrigerators, televisions, etc., to avoid single appliance failures affecting the power supply of the entire household.

-Commercial premises: such as small supermarkets, convenience stores, office lighting circuits, cash register equipment circuits, and small office equipment (printers, computers, etc.) circuit protection, adapted to the diverse low-voltage load requirements in commercial scenarios.

-Small scale industrial and public facilities: suitable for single-phase auxiliary equipment circuits in small workshops, public area lighting circuits in office buildings, parking lot lighting circuits, etc., providing basic safety guarantees for low-voltage distribution of industrial and public facilities.

-Temporary power distribution scenarios: such as temporary lighting circuits on construction sites, small temporary electrical equipment circuits, etc., meet the safety requirements of temporary power distribution with convenient installation methods and stable protection performance.

Installation and usage precautions

To ensure that the FAZ-C10/1 circuit breaker fully plays its protective role, the following points should be noted during installation and use:

1. Pre installation inspection: Before installation, it is necessary to confirm that the appearance of the circuit breaker is not damaged, the wiring terminals are not deformed, and the parameters such as model, rated current, and trip curve are consistent with the design requirements to avoid protection failure caused by misuse of the model. At the same time, ensure that the installation environment is dry, clean, free of dust, oil stains, and corrosive gases. The ambient temperature range is between -25 ℃ and 60 ℃, and exceeding this range may affect the performance of the trip mechanism.

2. Correct wiring: A 1-pole circuit breaker is usually connected to the phase line (L line), and the neutral line (N line) needs to be connected separately through a neutral line bank. It is strictly prohibited to connect the neutral line to the input or output terminal of the circuit breaker to avoid "zero break" faults. When wiring, it is necessary to choose a suitable crimping terminal based on the cross-sectional area of the wire. The wire stripping length should be moderate to ensure that the wire is fully inserted into the terminal and the crimping screw is tightened to prevent loose wiring from causing poor contact, heating, and burning.

3. Load matching: The total current of the protected circuit load must not exceed the rated current of the circuit breaker (10A). For inductive loads such as air conditioning and electric water heaters, their starting current (usually 3-5 times the rated current) should be considered to ensure that the starting current does not trigger the circuit breaker to trip incorrectly. If the load current is close to or exceeds 10A for a long time, the circuit breaker with a higher rated current should be replaced in a timely manner to avoid frequent overload tripping or shortened life due to long-term overload.

4. Daily operation and maintenance: Regularly check whether the on/off indication of the circuit breaker is clear, whether the operating handle is flexible, and whether there is any jamming phenomenon. If the circuit breaker trips due to overload or short circuit, the cause of the fault (such as line short circuit, excessive load, etc.) should be investigated first, and the fault should be eliminated before closing the circuit breaker. It is strictly prohibited to forcefully close the circuit breaker without investigating the fault. For circuit breakers that have not been used for a long time, it is recommended to perform regular opening and closing operations (such as every six months) to ensure that the mechanism operates flexibly.

5. Professional operation: The installation, wiring, and troubleshooting of circuit breakers must be carried out by qualified electricians. Non professionals are strictly prohibited from operating them without authorization to avoid safety accidents such as electric shock and circuit burnout caused by improper operation.
