ABB 560NMS34 Managed plug
ABB 560NMS34 Managed plug
DESCRIPTION
The RTU component 560NMS34 is a managed plug and play Layer-2-switch providing 4 fast Ethernet auto-negotiating RJ45- ports with auto MDI/X (automatic crossover detection and correction) and one 2-wire SDSL-port for use with private copper cables. It can be used with rack types 560MPR01, 560MPR03 and 560SFR02.
Product Overview
The ABB 560NMS34 switch has integrated management features and is equipped with one SDSL port and four Ethernet ports for industrial automation and remote monitoring applications that require efficient and reliable network connectivity.
Port Configuration
Ethernet Ports: The switch is equipped with four 10/100 BaseT Ethernet ports (RJ45 connector), which support auto MDI/X (automatic crossover detection and correction) function, eliminating the need for crossover cables. These ports support auto-negotiation, which automatically detects and configures the connection speed and duplex mode.
SDSL port: 1 SDSL port for copper that supports redundant topology via (Rapid) Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP). The port can be used to connect sites up to a maximum distance of 20 km (using 0.8 mm diameter copper cable), with a configurable maximum transmission rate of 11 Mbps.
Functional Features
Redundant Topologies: The switch supports redundant topologies via (Rapid) Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) to ensure the reliability and stability of network connections.
VLAN Support: The switch supports IEEE 802.1Q VLAN frames, which can be configured in VLAN or transparent mode. In VLAN mode, the switch can support multiple applications such as trunking or access ports.
Quality of Service (QoS): The switch will support QoS if using IEEE 802.1p compliant frame formats. Up to four queues are available and the queues can be configured as priority queues or weighted fair queues.
Status LEDs: The link and speed status of each Ethernet port and SDSL port is indicated by status LEDs. A green link LED indicates that the Ethernet connection is active and a yellow speed LED indicates a 10 or 100 Mbps connection.
Power Configuration: The switch uses a 5V supply voltage, which can be set for internal RTU power or set for external power via jumpers.
Hot-swappable interfaces: Both the connection and RS232 interfaces are hot-swappable, which is convenient for users to perform maintenance and upgrade.
Application Scenarios
ABB 560NMS34 switch is suitable for industrial automation, remote monitoring, smart grid and other fields. It can be used as a connection device for remote terminal equipment to achieve data acquisition, transmission, processing and other functions. Meanwhile, it can also be used with other ABB 560 series racks (such as 560MPR01, 560MPR03 and 560SFR02) to build an efficient and reliable network system.
Characteristics
For documentation purposes, the Ethernet ports are labeled from 1 to 4. The SDSL port is connected through the backplane. There is no specific uplink port. All ports are equal in function. Link and speed status of each Ethernet and the SDSL port are displayed by status indicators (refer to Connectors and Indicators). The switch learns Ethernet addresses by analyzing received frames and stores them in a lookup-table (max. 2048 entries), which is used to forward frames only to the correct port. If it is broad- or multicast or if the target address is not found in the lookup-table, a received frame is forwarded to all ports except the receiving one. If an entry in the lookup-table is not refreshed by an incoming frame with the specific source address, it is aged out within a maximum of 304 seconds (by default, value is configurable).
Installation and Maintenance
Environmental Conditions:
Ensure that the module is installed within the recommended temperature and humidity ranges and avoid direct exposure to water, oil, dust or electromagnetic interference.
Power Requirements:
Use a stable power supply to avoid damage to the module from voltage fluctuations.
Signal Cable Connection:
Connect the signal lines correctly to ensure the accuracy and stability of signal transmission.
Software Configuration:
Correctly configure the software parameters of the module according to the system requirements to ensure compatibility with other parts of the control system.
Maintenance and Inspection:
Perform regular maintenance and inspection of the module, including cleaning and checking the contact status of the connectors.
Precautions
Operator Training:
Operators should receive proper operation and maintenance training to avoid malfunctions or safety accidents caused by incorrect operation.
Technical Documentation and Safety Guidelines:
The technical documentation and safety guidelines provided by the manufacturer should be read and understood in detail before installation and use.
