We will promote the realization of basic old-age care services for all elderly people

Promoting the realization of basic old-age care services for all the elderly is an inevitable requirement for improving the population service system covering the whole life cycle and promoting long-term balanced population development. The population issue bears on the sustainable development and great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.  We will promote the access of all elderly people to basic old-age care services, and include all types of elderly people, such as families with only one child and families with special family planning, in the scope of unified basic old-age care services. We will further improve the population service system covering the whole life cycle, and actively respond to the risks and challenges of elderly care brought about by the demographic transformation. Promoting the access of all elderly people to basic old-age care services and making institutional arrangements for providing for the elderly can alleviate the widespread social anxiety about old-age care, alleviate the family pressure of young people, stabilize people's expectations of old-age care and life expectancy, enhance young people's willingness to have children, and liberate more workers from family care for the elderly. We will promote long-term and balanced population development.
