Using chemical science and technology to benefit human society -- the development and leap of the centennial of the founding of Chemical Society of China

At the same time that China has become a major chemical producer, the China Chemical Industry Society has adhered to the main line of deepening reform, broadened talents, actively expanded service fields and international communication channels, and continuously developed and expanded, becoming a new force to promote the development of China's petroleum and chemical industry.

 The organizational cohesion and academic leadership of the society have been significantly improved, and it has been evaluated as a 5A social organization by the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

Lu Zhaoping, member of the Party Group and Secretary of the Secretariat of the China Association for Science and Technology, said: At present, the chemical industry is pregnant with revolutionary changes, and is in a critical period of the transformation of old and new growth modes and from large to strong. China proposed "to achieve a high level of scientific and technological self-reliance" and issued a mobilization order for the "double carbon goal", which pointed out the direction for the chemical industry. To identify new positioning, shape new advantages, and show new achievements, the Chemical Industry Society of China should contribute wisdom and strength to accelerate the construction of a world scientific and technological power.

The keynote speech of the conference was presided over by Academician Zhang Suojiang, Director of the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Academician Bai Chunli, chairman of the "Belt and Road" Alliance of International Scientific Organizations and former president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered a report titled "Energy Science in the Context of Carbon neutrality". He explained how energy science supports carbon neutrality from three aspects: optimal utilization of fossil energy, large-scale application of clean energy and conversion and utilization of carbon dioxide. Academician Yao Jiannian, president of the Chinese Chemical Society, analyzed the opportunities and challenges faced by China's chemical industry under the title of "New Chemistry, New Chemical Industry and New Industry", pointed out that the integrated development of chemistry and chemical industry will play an important role in the integration of multiple disciplines, and put forward the "three new" paradigm of chemical and chemical development of new chemistry, new chemical industry and new industry and the realization path.

The participants believed that chemical engineering is a natural science for human understanding of the world, and it is also an engineering technology for human transformation of the world. In the early 19th century, the discipline of chemical engineering came into being in order to realize the large-scale production of chemical products. Today, chemical engineering has become an indispensable and important discipline in the field of science and engineering. Chemical industry, as one of the most critical chains in the national industrial innovation system, has become an important origin and support of high-tech, and plays an irreplaceable important role in agriculture, energy, materials, information, life, manufacturing and other fields. It is the backbone of driving the development of strategic emerging industries and achieving the goal of "double carbon".
