What's the difference between chemicals and chemistry?

Many people, the difference between chemical industry and chemistry is simply understood as industrialization and laboratory, large and small, precision and rough, in fact, did not grasp the core. As a discipline classification, chemistry is the upstream discipline of chemical industry, in short, the focus of chemical industry people is not how the reaction is carried out, what the reaction mechanism is. This is what the chemists do, and the chemists tell us what their findings are, what temperatures, what pressures, what forms of contact this reaction is going to be at, and how our job is to make this happen, to guarantee the conditions that the chemists tell us about. For example, a synthetic experimental chemistry major has been realized in the laboratory, maybe he wrote the word agitation in the experimental record, then the next is the field of chemical industry, this agitation is a large research direction of chemical industry, what is the agitation mode? Newtonian fluids or non-Newtonian fluids? Does the viscosity of the reaction system affect the efficiency of the motor? Does the heat from stirring affect the reaction? To what extent? Is there a dead zone? Further, to the pilot stage, it was found that the yield was far from the theoretical yield provided by the chemistry major, what is the problem?

Is it possible that the mixing is not done properly? If so, how do I fix it? Increase the mixing power? Redesign the paddle shape? Change the size of the reactor? The core of chemical industry is three transmission and one opposite, physical process, reaction engineering seems to have the word reaction, in fact, the research focus is still the part of the reaction that has nothing to do with the reaction itself, that is, the influence of mass and heat transfer on the reaction and the mass and heat transfer phenomenon caused by the reaction. The largest professional course of chemical industry is called chemical principle, what is it about? Two parts, some universities also divide these two parts into two courses one is fluid mechanics and the other is unit operations. Whether it is the equation of fluid mechanics, or drying, absorption, distillation, extraction, etc., are physical processes. To sum up, I think the position of the dean of our department is very accurate, chemical industry is the part of the chemical industry that has nothing to do with chemistry, we focus on fluid, heat and kinetic energy, we do not care about the reaction itself, chemical industry studies reaction, is also to study the impact of reaction on fluid, heat and kinetic energy. As for the reaction mechanism, the orbitals, the energy levels, the Schrodinger, this is a problem that the chemistry profession should solve. Of course, here is an objective description of the characteristics of the subject, not a subjective understanding of the debate. If you ask about employment and salary, I think it's about the same. You'll be disappointed anyway. Although I have always believed that the biggest reason for the difference in employment and salary is the difference in people rather than the difference in majors. Add a point: the friends of the reaction project should be the same professional, let's not grab a detail debate. First of all, I focus on logic. As a discipline, chemical engineering and chemistry are upstream and downstream, and chemistry is the upstream discipline of chemical engineering.

I think the original intention of the designer can be seen from the content of the discipline, which is the fundamental difference. Second, if I have to talk about reaction engineering, I don't think reaction engineering is chemistry. If you can't figure out why reaction engineering is not chemistry, please don't drill what chemistry is, please think about what chemistry is. Open the four chemistry textbook catalogue and the reaction engineering catalogue to see how much difference there is and what differences there are in focus. Finally, let's talk about a philosophical problem, students of science and engineering, to learn the principles of Marxism well, the theory of contradiction, the view of connection and the view of development must be able to use ah. Chemistry and chemical engineering are upstream and downstream disciplines, which is the point of connection. The chemical industry is the part of the chemical industry that has nothing to do with chemistry. The current subject classification is done decades ago, with the development of technology, chemistry, chemical materials, metallurgy, polymers and even biology and other related disciplines cross more and more, the line is more and more unclear, the subject classification has many places are not applicable, this is the development of the point of view. On the basis of the above points of view, people who study chemical industry still need to understand chemical knowledge, and people who study chemistry can not absolutely break away from the support of chemical industry, which is the opposition and unity between things.
