The difference between biological science and life science

What is life? At present, there is no unified and widely accepted definition of this problem, but in order to include the existence of unknown life forms that cannot be excluded, the definition of life must be general enough or even vague enough to include as wide a range of life forms as possible. However, life itself is a process, and living bodies are the carriers of this process, which makes the definition of life and living bodies very difficult. It is generally accepted that life should contain the following basic characteristics: having a material basis and a structural basis; having metabolism; having irritability; being able to grow, develop and reproduce; having heredity and variability; being able to adapt to and influence the environment.

Life Science is a science that studies the nature, characteristics, occurrence and development laws of life phenomena, life activities, and the relationship between various organisms and organisms and the environment. It is used to effectively control life activities and actively transform the biological world for the benefit of mankind. Life science has a close relationship with human survival, people's health, economic construction and social development, and is the basic natural science that attracts much attention in the world today. The four frontiers of life science are cell biology, molecular biology, ecology and neurobiology.

A living being is a living being with kinetic energy and is also a collection of objects, while an individual organism refers to living organisms, as opposed to non-living things. Biology refers to all living objects in nature, including plants, animals, microorganisms and so on. Bioscience is the study of the basic laws of life. Its branches include biological taxonomy, physiology, zoology, botany, microbiology, biochemistry, genetics and so on.

Biology is the science that studies the structure, function, occurrence and development of living things, and the relationship between living things and their surroundings. Its development has gone through three stages, respectively: the description biology stage (before the mid-19th century), the main feature is to observe, describe and record all kinds of organisms from the external morphology, to find the similarities and differences between them and the evolutionary context, representative scientists have Darwin, Linnaeus and so on; Experimental biology stage (19th century to the middle of the 20th century), the main feature is the use of experimental instruments, through the design of experiments, to explore the internal law of biological life activities, the representative figure is Pasteur, with the famous "curved-neck test" proved the "germplasm theory", disputed the "saprophytic theory"; The period of creative biology (after the mid-20th century) was characterized by rapid advances in molecular biology and genetic engineering that allowed people to "create" new species, represented by scientists such as Watson and Crick, who discovered the double helix of DNA. Biological science is a subject based on experiment, which studies the structure, physiological behavior, biological origin, evolution and genetic development of organisms, and goes through the development period of experimental biological science, molecular biology and systematic biological science.

In terms of research objects, both biological science and life science are based on the study of life. Living things are living things, and living things are not necessarily living things. Living objects that are not living things, including cells, tissues, etc., are also within their scope of study. Many people now believe that life science mostly studies the origin of life, especially the phenomenon of human life, while biological science pays more attention to the entire biosphere. Therefore, the scope of biological science research is wider.
