It is understood that Heshan printing industry has a long history. At present, Heshan has 209 printing enterprises of all kinds, and the total industrial output value of the printing industry in the city is 10 billion yuan. In August 2006, Heshan was awarded the title of "China Printing Industry Base" by China Light Industry Federation for the first time, and passed the second and third re-evaluations in December 2012 and July 2018. On December 23, 2022, the China Light Industry Federation organized an expert group to carry out an online review of the printing industry cluster in Heshan City, and the expert group unanimously agreed that the printing industry in Heshan City has a solid foundation, a large industrial scale, a more complete industrial chain, outstanding green development results, and the government attaches great importance to it, in line with relevant requirements, and agreed to pass the review.

In the past three years, although affected by the epidemic and the external environment, the total assets of Heshan Printing enterprises in 2021 fell by 3.68%, but profits grew rapidly, and the total profits of enterprises in 2021 increased by nearly 60% compared with that of 2019.

In the first half of 2022, the total export value of Heshan printing industry ranked third in the province, second only to Shenzhen and Dongguan, and ranked first in the county-level city in the country.

Today, after years of development, Heshan printing has formed a "two axes and two centers" industrial layout. Among them, 56 printing enterprises distributed in Taoyuan, Gonghe, Jishan and Hecheng along the G325 National Highway are horizontal axis, and 94 printing enterprises distributed in Shaping and Yayao along the Jiangsha Industrial Corridor are vertical axis.
