Polyester, is an important variety of synthetic fiber, is also the largest variety, is made of polyester as raw materials by fusing spinning and post-processing fiber, also known as polyester fiber, "Dacron". In the 1970s, "Dacron" once became a popular commodity, which made an important contribution to easing the tension of fabric voucher supply and the outstanding contradiction between grain and cotton.

The construction of the "four chemical fiber" base is the initial battle of China's large-scale development of petrochemical and chemical fiber. In June 1977, the Ministry of Light Industry established the development goal of expanding the second phase of Shanghai Jinshan Project and building an extra large chemical fiber enterprise during the "Five Five" plan of the national economy. Approved by The State Council, Yizheng chemical fiber was included in the national 22 key introduction of one of the projects, the decision operation of Yizheng chemical fiber 530,000 tons/year polyester and polyester project, equivalent to the national chemical fiber production capacity at that time, is a fundamental solution to the people's dressing problems, alleviate the contradiction between domestic chemical fiber supply and demand, change the backward face of China's chemical fiber industry strategic measures.

However, due to the financial constraints of the state, Yizheng chemical fiber project was forced to postpone construction. In order to save this project, Yizheng chemical fiber builders dare to be the first and bold innovation, on the basis of the national advance allocation of 300 million yuan, a total of 700 million yuan of debt loans to domestic and foreign countries, raised the funds needed for the first phase of project construction, and opened state-owned enterprises to "borrow to build factories and operate in debt". This unique way of investment and construction is called "Yizheng mode".

In 1990, Yizheng Chemical fiber I and II projects were fully completed and put into operation, forming an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons of chemical fiber and chemical fiber raw materials, accounting for 1/3 of the national synthetic fiber output, 1/2 of the polyester output, equivalent to 1/8 of the national cotton output, which can provide a set of "Dacron" new clothes for each person in the country every year. Become the largest production base of chemical fiber and chemical fiber raw materials in China.

In 1998, Yizheng Chemical Fiber joined China Petrochemical Corporation as a whole with China Donglian Petrochemical Group Co., LTD., and the advantages of resources, industrial chain and integration were further highlighted.

In December 2000, the State Economic and Trade Commission "ninth Five-Year" major science and technology research project and Sinopec "Ten dragons" science and technology research project - the first set of 100,000 tons/year of domestic polyester device was completed and put into operation in Yizheng Chemical Fiber, breaking the foreign technology monopoly in one stroke, opening up the road of Chinese polyester device construction. It has greatly reduced the technical threshold and investment cost of polyester project construction, and led to the leapfrog development of China's chemical fiber industry.
